What is a steal item you found at a thrift store?

I enjoy watching Youtube and reading blogs on my spare time and I see many gurus shopping at thrift stores and they find amazing deals and sometimes they find steal deals on brand name designer clothes for less than $5! Have you ever found a steal item at a thrift store?
I have shopped at a thrift store once but the prices were extremely expensive. For a pair of jeans they were $10 and I can get a brand new pair at Macy's on sale for $10. Since then I never shopped at thrift stores but from DO IT YOURSELF home projects, good brand name deals at thrift stores you can find treasure sometimes! Like the saying.. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Have you ever came across a steal deal at a thrift store? What was it? If not, do you shop at thrift stores? What do you generally like to buy at thrift stores?
Any tips for a newbie thrift shopper?

Hm, well I don't think I've ever shopped at a thrift store. I only shop at the mainstream stores like Forever 21, Gilly Hicks, etc. But I remember I was at this store that sadly closed a long time ago, and they had lots of clothes on clearance. I got this really pretty lacey kind of blue spaghetti strap tank top for only $1 :) It was such a good deal, AND IT LOOKED PRETTY ON ME

I find good deals shopping at the mall too. Kohls gives good coupons sometimes like $10 off $10 or more purchase, free undies at Vs and so forth.

i havetwo favourite thrift stores. one has sales every so often such as every item for a dollar or all the clothes you can stuff into a bag for $5-. the other store has clothes really cheap. i got a really nice track jacket for $3-. i can really only afford to shop at thrift stores for clothes so i am always looking for the best deal.

I found a whole set of 6 of faltzgraft country pattern (which is the pattern that was handed down to me from my grandmother) It gave me enough to a sit down meal with 12 people and a few spares. The more than 50 pieces was only $25 dollars.
There is a very good children's section at the local thrift shop. All items are a dollar or less up to 6T, then all items are $1.50 or less for clothing. Even on clearance it is hard to find kids clothing that cheap, and my daughter outgrows stuff so fast it is hard to justify spending $10 for a pair of pants or a shirt.

Here they are trying to raise the prices in one of the newest and cheapest ones I have seen around here, too. 
The best deal I got was a pair of Dansko shoes that were only $5. that I resold for $51.00 on eBay. 
I decided they were too heavy for my feet. My feet would be tired by the time I was done walking and I have to many pairs of shoes already from there. I was never a real fan of designer clothes anyways.
