3D is not for me!

I don't see the point of seeing a film and feel like you are part of it at the same time. If I wanted to be in a film, I would have filmed it myself! i really don't understand why I would pay to see a movie that was perfect in 2D that is now in 3D! Do you watch 3d films?

I have gone to see several movies in 3D, and some of those I have seen within the last year were all that impressive. I just think that they would have been better simply in 2D, in my opinion.

I saw one only once. It was years ago, when the technology wasn't as good as it no doubt is now. It made me feel sick.

I don't think I've ever seen a movie in the theater in 3D. And if it is up to me, I never will. I'm not paying extra money to have something appear to be coming out at me. Sure, for kids it's cool. But I have no desire to be wowed by something like this. You want to wow me? Charge me half of the movie tickets regular price. Besides that, do they really clean those 3D glasses all that well?

For me it doesn't matter. My eyes work strangely. Although I can see with both eyes for some reason I only see with one eye at a time. That means I don;t really see things in 3D anyway. That explains why sometimes I would try to catch a baseball and get hit in the head instead. Add to that I'm partially color blind which I found out after taking a few art appreciation classes.

Until now I haven't seen a 3d film. I couldn't say whether they are amazing or not. To watch such a film is expensive and you need to use special lens which are provided in the cinema. I guess they want to give more enjoyment to the senses. There are people who like those films but I think the most people keep watching movies which are not 3d.

Actually, I don't actually feel as "being there" when I watch 3D. It's more like a distorted way of watching a regular movies. Maybe I didn't see enough movies in 3D?

I completely agree. For my husband and I it's not an option because of our vision, but if it was an option it would not interest us. things are even more different for me, because of my sensitive hearing. Movies and music with a lot of drama are like "audio 3D" and I don't like sounds that affect me on the inside. I want to hear a sound, not feel it.

Hi! I have heard that it is great fun to watch a 3D movie with 3D glasses, though I never had any occasion to see any 3D movie. I would love to watch a 3D movie whenever I get a chance.

Hi. The only 3D film I have seen I saw in a 2D form! I am not interested in trying any of the new 3D films.

I think the concept of 3-D TV and movies is kind of neat, but I'm not going to get involved in that if I don't have to. Part of my reasoning is that I already wear prescription contacts or glasses, so why would I spend the same amount on these 3-D glasses to be able to watch TV or a movie? The whole concept of 3-D, while I'm sure it took a lot of work and research, just seems like another way to get more money out of consumers to me. I've never watched a 3-D show or movie all the way through. My uncle has all the technology for it, so I watched a "sneak peak" of what it was like. It was different and kind of cool, but I wouldn't spend the money to buy the TV or the glasses. I just couldn't do it! My TV works fine, so I don't see the need to replace it. If down the road we end up having to replace the TV we've got, if the new one comes with 3-D, so be it. Then we'd have a 3-D TV. However, I refuse to pay extra for that capability. If I want to feel like I'm in the movie, I'll go see a movie at the theater or IMAX and get the cheap 3-D glasses that come with it. Those types of movies are really fun because it's all about the experience. I won't pay more to have this experience at home, though.

I hope these new t.v. give you the option of 2D. If they don't I'll be getting used t.v.s!

Yes, I think most of the new TVs still have the option of either 2-D or 3-D. If I got a new one like this, I'd probably never use the 3-D. However, like I said before, most of them just come with both options, so it's not like you'd be paying extra for the TV to include 3-D. If they only had 3-D going forward, and I couldn't buy a new 2-D TV, I'd do the same and buy used! I'm sure I could find a nice, used plasma or flat-panel, similar to what we have now for a reasonable price. (We have a 50-inch plasma/flat-panel for the living room, and a 32-inch flat panel in the bedroom. That's all I want or need! You know how I am with my movies...lol!!) I don't I'll have to worry about purchasing a new TV now, though, because our TVs have been doing just fine and they are four or five years old. I think they'll keep kicking for a long time.

I have my 13 inch , regular t.v. from 1996. It is the t.v. I got right when I started taping my favorite films . It is hooked up the cable and once, G-d forbid, it stops working I will replace it with... another 13 inch t.v. in my attic. I don't need anything bigger. It is funny , my laptop screen is bigger than my t.v. screen!

Hardly. I don't really think 3D enhances the experience at all. I typically avoid 3D and just see any movies that I want to see in 2D. I've tried seeing a movie in 2D and then watching it in 3D to see if it looks any better, but honestly I've yet to see a film where I really the 3D added anything. I like re-releases because it gives me a chance to see my favorite films again on the big screen, but 3D re-releases aren't that fun for me.

Yeah, rereleases can be fun! It's kind of annoying when it's only in 3D, but it's still great to see it on the big screen again.

This is the same argument I have with 3DTV. Sometimes (or most of the time), we don't want to be part of the movie. There is beauty in watching life or drama happening without being a part of it. That no matter what the consequences are, we are not part of it. I thought I was just an old dinasaur!

Well, lets see here. 3D is the further of TV as we know it. That's where it is going. For right now there still are 2D movies and TV shows. But soon 3D TV's will be taking over the market. They will all b 3D even if not everything is broadcast in 3D. Now while I agree with going to the movies to see 3D, I cannot stand those stupid glasses. Thats why the new 3D TV's are made without the use of glasses. I love the idea and concept. I even watched some 3D on a TV in BestBuy once. I thought it was pretty cool. But you cannot stop technology from evolving. It is going to happen whether you want it to or not.

Well my friend they go on without me. I still have more VHS than DVDs. My t.v. is only 13 inches and it isn't HD!So all the toys are great but you Can not make me buy them. And with the films they are bringing out I can and Will stay with the good films on cable And in my own collection. If they Think Everyone will run out and get 3D stuff they are so wrong!

Well you know that hope everyone does. But we all know not everyone will. At least not until it is standard anyway. I will eventually, but not right now. I have what I need and it still works so I am fine with that. But down the road I will be looking. And anyway, I am waiting for Apple to release their TV. That's when I will begin my campaign for getting one. LOL. Hey Now.

BLASPHEMY! On a serious side though, it does take a particular kind of movie fan to sit through an entire movie in 3D. Even I struggle with them lately. I actually think they are starting to do too many 3D movies (although you can watch a standard version usually also). It's like they have the technology there so lets use it every chance we get. One or two movies Ive seen with it I couldn't help but sit there wondering 'what is this why have they ruined what could of been a decent movie with this 3D stuff?' Sometimes a well written and played out movie will need nothing but that. Forget effects forget huge music scores forget 3D/CG in general and just let the acting do it for you. Unfortunately with the lack of 'mind gripping movies' there is lately it seems we are stuck with over ambitious directors. Shame really

The only thing I disagree with you is the musical score. I always need music. ( Have you seen my avatar?) But everything else I agree with you 100%. It is hard for me to find any new film that I want to see and none of them are in 3D.

To tell the truth I saw Braveheart and I didn't focus on the music! The movies you describe are misusing the musical score. Music should be a supporting cast member , not a ham actor , trying to steal a scene. The best score I remember is from Out Of The Africa. john Barry composed the music. It is used perfectly.
4 Apr 12
What I meant about the music was some movies ive watched a real good scene has been happening and suddenly mid way through it loud music starts screaming out at you and instead of enjoying the scene you end up focusing on the music saying to yourself I like this or I dont like this instead of focusing on the scene / movie itself. A movie doesn't need music every 'high paced' scene in my opinion to pull it all together. I am a fan of good musical scores in movies one of my favorites for example is actually Braveheart starring mel gibson with a particular score done by James Horner I believe it was. I Would need to double check but I think im correct in who the composer was. It's on youtube if you havent heard it.

My problem is that there are some movies that are now made in 3d but should not be and there are movies that would do better in 3d then regular. Then there is the cost. I did watch the old movies where you got those 3d glasses with the red and green cellophane over them. I never got used to them, but for me it is the cost not whether I do or do not want to be in the movie. I have a good imagination. For me it is the cost.

There are movies which are really made for 3D viewing like Tron and Avatar. However, movies now can also be watched in 3D, even if they are great in 2D. I watch in 3D depending on the movie that I will watch. Also, some people like to watch 3D movies for experience.

Not really every now and then we might see one in a 3D but normally 2D is cheaper but it can be fun to go see a 3D. But not ever movie I think some older movies would be fun to see in 3D. I've seen Thor in 3D that was cool not that it felt like I was in the movie. I don't know why they say it makes you feel like your in the movie when it never does. But the different look is nice. Now I would spend the money on those stupid 3D tv's or the 3Ds any time soon. Now the fake 3d is really cool on a normal tv. Where they just us a different from of cg to make it look like the us of 3d with out the 3d cost. I really wanted to see Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in 3D just for a different kind of view but had no babysitter which is okay. I have them on dvd.
