is to clean the toilet as good as you possibly can, drain the water out and turtle wax it! Another is using Bounce fabric softener sheets to ward off bugs of all kinds. Either rub it over arms, face and legs or just carry a sheet with you. It works on yellow jackets, mosquitoes, and other annoying biters and stingers. Nothing will stick to the turtle wax so cleaning is a snap after that. What is your favorite tip?

Dried out baby wipes work almost as good as the swiffer brand wipes. With swiffer wipes you get 16 for about 3 dollars, with the baby wipes it is 80 for about a dollar.

Ooooooh, I love the money savers. They are the absolute best. The cost of the swiffer cloths is one reason I stopped using them and went back to broom and mop. Had not thought to use the baby wipes. Excellent!

I have hard wood floors and unless they are sticky I hate to use water on them. I just kind of picked up on it when I had some dried out wipes that were nice and fluffy, I used it as a dust rag and it worked wonderfully.

I just got my all time favorite hint was given to me a few days ago here on the Lot. I have to go through all the responses to find the person and thank her tons... To keep ants at bay and off your counters and out of your house, use cinnamon at the source of the ants. It doesn't have to be the freshest in your cupboard it will still work. I thought it was crazy but at the time my kitchen counters were covered with ants. I thought what the heck and grabbed the cinnamon. In less than 20 minutes the ants were TOTALLY gone! I mistakenly wiped up the cinnamon and the ants came back like cats after a fish monger. I grabbed the cinnamon again, used it right at the entry spot and I haven't had an ant since. Plus the kitchen smells wonderful from the spice. (I don't use too much in the way of air fresheners since I have the double whammy of allergies and asthma.)

Good one! Using cinnamon is so much safer than using pesticides, too. Plus, it is one of my all-time favorite smells. It reminds me of luscious fresh baked apple pie. Yummy hint.

I also hate using pesticides, especially on my kitchen counters. Not only because of me but also the cats walk on it constantly. Murphy especially as she has her whipped cream in her special dish on the counter. The other three cats know not to bother her when she is having her whipped cream. Anyhow, I hate to think of one of us getting sick from the possibility of contact with pesticides.

When it comes to cleaning the toilet, I just use lysol wipes and the toilet brush. I used to like the spray bleach cleaner that walmart used to have but I havent' seen it in awhile. I do like that I can take a dryer sheet and put it over a vent to have the whole room smelling fresh, and vinegar is a great stain remover and de-odorizer. For my face (not a household hint but a housewife hint) I use dove soap to keep it clean. I don't actually use it anymore but when I had bad breakout I used it as a mask and it went away by next day.

I love the dryer sheet over the vent idea. Those sheets come in so handy for so many things. Vinegar is the best window cleaner ever and is great for cleaning coffee pots, especially if you have hard water. Liquid Dove is what I use for my husband's baths. He is in bed all the time and it keeps his skin from drying out so easily.

Those are some great ideas everyone has. I never thought about the turtle wax idea. Brilliant. If you want to make your own clorox wipes, gently soak a roll of paper towels in clorox water and store them in a wipes container. You really have to be careful not to get them too moist or they will fall apart (unless you use really strong paper towels such as brawny).

The clorox idea sounds good except straight clorox is too strong. Cut it to one part clorox to six parts water. It's easier on the hands and does a great job cleaning, too. Good thinkingShellyann!
