WHY Is Fast Food So Addictive?!!!

At this moment I am trying to stop eating fast food altogether. There are those special cases where you are out and you get home very late, so you have no choice but to grab something on the go. But I realized that most of my extra money was going down the drain due to me eating too much fast food. A while ago I added up all the money I made in the month and I realized that I should have plenty of extra money but I was always broke. Where was my money going especially since I had nothing to show for it? I was pretty much eating it. So why can't I stop buying fast food? -It stops me from having to cook (which I HATE to do) -It's fast -It's easy -It's addictive! Don't get me wrong, I do cook but not enough. So how can I stop buying fast food? Any suggestions (besides getting off of my lazy butt and cooking)?

Hi bmonai87, Well there is a why you can pick one day in the week to cook all your meals for the next 7 days then put them in the freezer and when you get home from work just put one meal in the mirowave this will save you money i tried it before and it works but then i gave up because i love my fast food and i won,t stop eating it no matter what all the best.

I guess you just really have to stop yourself from buying some.. Pretty much descipline.. And try to cook more so you can appreciate it.. I guess the reason why fast foods are so addictive is because of the fats in it.. It's what makes them yummy.. And we know it's unhealthy.. Unlike if you are the one cooking, at least you know what you are eating..

Well, I think it's ultimately just a matter of will. Maybe it would help you to plan your meals ahead so that you're not finding yourself with no time and no idea what to make. Maybe cook large amounts at home so you can have plenty of leftovers, and no excuses to go out. I agree, fast food is addictive. It's just quick, easy, cheap, and tasty. It's still not good for you though. I think the only fast food place I ever go to is Subway, cause I know I can get much healthier stuff there.

I think most people like fast food and they just don't care about what adverse effect these fast food can bring them even though they are quite sure about what the consequences are. I like fast food as well but I would try to stop myself from eating them when I think of the horrible pictures of the patients who got their diseases due to having too much fast food and also when I think of the fact that it is far cheaper for myself to cook my own meal than to buy food outside.

I think that it is so convenient to have the fast food. For example, there are four McDonald's and two KFC restaurants nearby my home. It can save the time and it tastes well. Especially it is not expensive. Perhaps this is why fast food becomes much more popular now. I love China

I don't find any other way to eat besides cooking o eating in fastfood. If you really don't want to cook, then there's no other choice. You can just search the internet for easy 5-minute recipes so you can cook easily without taking too much time and needing so many ingredients. I'm not a cook either and I also don't like cooking. But if I don't have a choice and I also don't want my money to wasted on fastfood, then I know I've got to do it.

I too was quite addicted but now I follow some easy recipes and when I have no one to help I cook myself using microwave with little or no oil at all . Fast food is too tasty and very easily available which lures us and I too had fallen its prey until I decided to come out of its clutch to save my stomach and my pocket

The only idea I have is what others said - if you want to avoid getting more addicted, maybe it's better to cook at home what is enough for the next week. It takes some time, but then you will have a variety of dishes to choose from, and you know it's healthy because you know what you have put in it. There are addictive ingredients in most junk food - plenty of sugar, fat, salt, artificial flavors, which make them so tasty that we crave them.

I think first and foremost it is a case of mind over matter . You buy the food , because you can't be bothered to cook . I have a suggestion . Why don't you spend a few hours on a day where you have nothing to do . Cook up some meals and freeze them into individual microwaveable meals . It will cost you hardly anything to make . It will be a lot healthier on you and your bank balance . There's nothing wrong with haveing fast food +nce maybe twice a week . But as an everyday thing , that has to stop ! You will kill your self .
