What to eat?

I had a checkup last night and my doctor told me that my cholesterol level is higher than normal. She advised me not to eat fried foods, the red part of the egg, etc. and told me to exercise or do brisk walking every morning. If you are on the same situation as me, can you give me tips on what to eat? I eat almost any food I want and I am not careful back then. What kind of cooking oil should I use or something, any suggestions or advice will be appreciated.

Well...it's very hard to change your eating habits overnight so it might be a good idea to implement new things kind of slow. They will become sort of habit after a little while and you won't even think about them anymore..you'll just eat that way. Canola, peanut, or olive oils are a lot better for you than the traditional vegetable oil or shortening. They make your food taste better sometimes too. I would get alot of fiber in the diet too. Whole grains are shown to actually help reduce the level of cholesterol you have.

With the cooking oil, I suggest you avoid those low-cost cooking oil like those of corn oil. Better go for healthier alternatives like Soya bean oil, or Olive oil. They cost higher, but they will not only keep your cholesterol level healthy, it will also help you stay younger and rejuvenated.

I see a few good suggestions here but no one mentioned sugar yet. I recently saw a report on how bad sugar is for us and how researchers have found that sugar raises LDL, the bad type of cholesterol. It's in nearly everything we eat from "healthy" cereal and breads to desserts. Read labels on your foods, that's the most important thing, and avoid sugars as much as possible. Eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits, only lean meats like poultry or better still, get your protein from legumes (beans and such) and fish. I don't know how food is manufactured in your country but here in the U.S. even pasta has some sugar added to it! Did you know that nothing in nature that is sweet is poisonous? Our bodies naturally love sugar because it has always been safe to eat. But with the recent findings of sugar raising LDL I think you will get a lower cholesterol reading next time if you avoid all sugars except fruits if at all possible.

Well, I can tell you that your doctor is correct about fried foods. It's all fat that is no good for your heart. Eggs are fine but the yokes have to be removed. Just eat the egg whites. Stay away from high fat cheese, cream, milk and ice cream. Basically stay away from dairy. If you use oil to cook, use olive oil or canola oil. They are better for you, but don't use to much. Also stay away from cake and candy and cookies. Eat more vegetables and stay away from beef.

As your doctor mentioned to you, you should cut back on eating fried food as well as avoid eating the egg yolk. You should start to eat more vegetables and fruits as well as do more excercise and try to have a healthier weight. You should cut back on using oil in your food

You can still eat everything, but you need to limit those that are high in cholesterol like fried and oily food. Eggyolk is also high in cholesterol. Animal skins are also high in cholesterol. I suggest that you have to increase your fiber intake. Oatmeal does a great job in lowering cholesterol level. You need also to increase your water intake to cleanse your body. 1-2 glasses every hour is the recommended amount of water by natural doctors. Exercise will really help.
