handing out the title of best responce

i am getting ready to go thru my posts and hand out best responce to those post that i got that i loved from mylot.. i dont do this very often and would like to do it more and keep it up to date... how often do you choose a best responce, and how long into the discussion do you wait.. to post it.. in a couple of my answere from you guys i saw after one or two responses some great answers and i almost went and and said ok this one is the best.. but i did not feel it was fair since there were only two people who had responded and i wanted to wait and get a few more responces
then pick.. as it was early into the post.. so what im asking is do you go by your responce you get and then mark it. or if you know its great mark it best right then no matter what.. or do you go by time and how long the post has been out.. then go back and choose.. as im sure everyone does it different.. just getting a few ideas to help me choose my new way.. as i do think everyone should at some point give out best responces..lots of times i just forget.. what do you think ?

i'm actually going through my unresolved responses and been handing out best responses tags for the past two days. my criteria differs from discussion to discussion. sometimes i look at the information provided by the poster, sometimes i look at its relevance. other times if a response is funny enough to make me laugh out loud, i award the best response almost immediately! lol! 
i'd like to get a good number of responses in the discussions i've started before handing out the best response. some of my unresolved responses date as far back as three years. lol! yes, i have been remiss of handing out best responses but what can i do? anyway, i don't start discussions that often but moving forward i'd like to give out a best response award after two months tops.

thanks for your information on this subject.. i have some back post i need to post best responce as well. will probably work on that tomorrow morning i am going to come up with a rule on it for myself.. i think i will go by how long a post has been out like maybe set like a week then do it.. i dont know yet will think about it tomorrow.. but i do feel its important to do.. and plan to get it done..
but i can see, if a post makes you lol its hard to pass it up as best one..i love those as well and get quite a few.. maybe that is why im addicted to mylot , makes me lol sometimes feel good.. take care

I am very bad at picking best response. I usually wait at least one month minimum but I am always behind in picking best response.
If there are only a few responses, it is sometimes easy but if there are many responses, it is often very difficult. I have gotten several excellent responses to some of my discussions and it is makes it hard to pick the best.
A couple of months back, I had time on my hands and decided to go back to some old discussions to pick best responses. I was shocked at how many discussions I had started and I was further shocked at how many had no best response. My job was cut out for me. I was able to use my time very well. I felt very productive picking best responses from many discussions that I started months earlier.

i was just thinking about that as well same situation here, and im dreading doing it too.. i did manage to get a few done today.. i think i will do a few at a time and go from there.. works best for me if it is easy and dont want to get too mcuh on my plate as my bi polar wont allow me stress.. i take it day by day on everything.. thanks for responding.. you made a good point..

hi laken I just wait a week to allow all who wish to respond do so then I try t o catch up but again I am woefully behind. I do think its not fair to give it to a best friend or not wait til you get plenty of responses before handing out best response

a week sounds fair to me.. and i agree with everything you said and i only put as best responce if it deserves it.. i have some catching up to do as well.. hopefully i can get it done tomorrow as i hate being behind.. but as for now im having a hard time keeping up with everything.. gonna do a few things different as to help.. thanks alot for your post. hatley take care and have fun..

I must admit i also have not done that yet, since i have not been working on mylot for a while. It is soemthing i think i would wait a while and do it like every 2 months or so, to give people enought time to respond to each and to be more fair in choosing the best one of them all.
