Just today, browsing through Facebook, I came across a cartoon depicting a speech of ex former Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi.
Silvio Berlusconi said: "WOW, the Italians are upset with Monti, but they do not know that I was the one to ruin Italy!"
At first glance it may certainly seem a mockery of the character. But the Italians, the "sly" Silvio Berlusconi, we know him well for his sometimes extravagant digs.
That does not surprise me at all if these words were actually spoken by him.
A question addressed to you, dear readers from around the world. If you know well Silvio, do you think he really could have said something like that, or is it just an "urban legend" on Facebook, only for the purpose of ridiculing the character?
Share your opinion about, please.

Berlusconi, as any other people with power, doesn't care about Italy, he only cares about himself.
About the question I think that yes, it's possible he said something similar. As he said to people that lost their house cause the earthquake to think as they were on holiday, as he played peekaboo with Merkel, as he said in public he was hungry too during a summit about world famine is completly able to tell things like this.

I agree with Peter above. He is a urky character but I don't think that he would have ruined Italy. What would he have gained by it.
I did hear something else regarding him on a satirical programme. Concerning the speech by Italy's president saying that he wants to step down next year when his term ends and that he would like to see a woman in his role. Berlusconi, according to this satirical character said "I'll do the job and then bring the women"
