After a great match between Panathinaikos vs Maccabi Tel Aviv, Panathinaikos won with a heartbreaking 86-85 and became the 4th team that reaches the final4. The Semifinals will be CSKA Moscow vs Panathinaikos, Barcelona vs Olympiacos.
Now about the match...
Maccabi this time started a lot more focused and had a small lead for most of the first quarter, ended with a 2 point lead 18-20.
In the second quarter continued being close till around the middle of the second quarter when Maccabi's coach D.Blatt got himself a TF making Panathinaikos to take a 4p lead 28-24. After that Panathinaikos gainned a 9p lead with Sarunas Jasikevicius giving a good boost for my team ending the halftime in front with 41-32.
At the start of the 3rd quarter Panathinaikos got in front with 12p 46-34 with a 3p from Diamantidis and after that Maccabi did a great comeback scoring 0-12 with Ohayon 2 consecutive 3p in just a couple of mins making the game level at 46-46, at this point Perperoglou, Jasikevicius and Kaimakoglou did an 10-0 making the score 56-46 and till the end of the 3q teams were going close to a 10p difference ending it with Panathinaikos having a 9p lead 62-53.
At the 4q Maccabi started great with Schortsianitis scoring 5 points while Perperoglou scored another 3p, but Panathinaikos managed to keep the 10p lead with a dunk by Logan and with Maric the lead was up to 12 70-58 and after 2 3pointers by Pnini and Diamantidis 73-61, after that point of the game Maccabi did another comeback making it 73-67 and Langford made it a 5p game 74-69. In the final 2 minutes Panathinaikos was in front 78-69 after some points by Maric and Vougioukas. In the final 2 minutes Maccabi did another come back with Pnini scoring a 3p (78-72) Smith made it a 5p game (79-74) before Diamantidis scored a nice shot (81-74).
In the final minute Langford scored a 3p (81-77), Maric lost two FT shots at 53secs and Langford made it a 2p game with 2 FT (81-79), Kaimakoglou lost 2 FT too giving the chance to Maccabi for the tie, Langford lost the shot though and the ball went to Panathinaikos with 19secs to go. Diamantidis got a foul and made both FT (83-79), Blu made a basket plus a foul with 11 secs to go (83-82), Diamantidis made a couple more FT (85-82), before Pnini got a 3p shot foul tieing the game (85-85) with 9.8 to go. Diamantidis got another foul from Hendrix (5.8 seconds before the buzzer) and scored 1/2 FT (86-85) Burstein got the rebound but he did a turnover sending my team to another Final4 and making me a delighted fan :)
So... What are your predictions for this year's F4? Who do you think is the favorite to win it this year? Kirilenko's CSKA Moscow, The defending Champions Panathinaikos, Juan Carlos Navarro's Barcelona or Vasilis Spanoulis' Olympiacos?
