The first thing you should do is make a backup of your file and put it in a safe place. You might even want to consider making 2 backups if the data is really important. I like the response where someone mentioned you should take a look at your Excel file and make sure the data is in good shape (eliminate redundancy, etc.) After that, you could make more backup(s) of that file if you made a lot of changes. It has been sometime since I've worked with Excel and Access but I would think that there would be either an export feature of Excel where it would guide you through the process of exporting to Access or more likely, an import feature in Access which would guide you through the process of importing your file from Excel. Look at the Help features in both applications and see if you can find anything. Also, I would think you should be able to use a search engine and look for 'converting files from Excel to Access' or some similar search. Before doing any important work with your computer, always make a backup. As long as you do that, if anything goes wrong, at least you've preserved your original.

Hi, I'm not sure I understand your response, but here is a link to convert an Excel spreadsheet over to Access... http://databases.about.com/od/tutorials/ss/convert_excel_to_access_2010_database.htm By the way at the end of my original comment I said something about backing up your computer. What I really meant was that before you work on an important file, you should back up the file (not your whole computer) in order to preserve the original. Sorry about that.

What database you are making? A file database? I do not actually know how to make one but i know how to make a database of people in microsoft access. It is quite easier than making a database in visual basic. However, explaining here in mylot is not that easy. Maybe you should try to refer to tutorial sites.

You will first need to make your Excel spreadsheets suitable for importing into Access. Eliminate any rows and columns which you don't want to import; make sure that you have no redundant or duplicated data.
