How to be a successful blogger?

First and foremost, you need to realise that being a successful blogger will require time and dedication. Even though you may have the time/resources now, you should look at yourself 6 months or a year down the line, where your lifestyle may have changed. If you can still see yourself successfully blogging, then consider these points: Short and sweet: In general, the average internet user will have a very short attention span, perhaps 10-15 seconds. You would need to design your blog such that it is captivating and encourages the viewer to read on. You can have the best content in the world, but if you display it without thoughts to ergonomics and the user experience, nobody will want to read. Know your audience: Be clear beforehand what audience you intend to write for, and stick to that. If you have an enthusiast blog for example, you would want to design content such that it is not too technically involved but detailed enough to interest the reader. Keep it regular: A blog is only as successful as its maker. You need to have content lined up to be posted regularly to keep your followers interested and increase your audience. Without regular posts, followers will move onto more current blogs or other sources of information. I know this isn't a concise tutorial on how to start and maintain a blog, but if you follow a set template such as the one mentioned above, you will be well on your way to being a successful blogger.
