Upset at myself

I've always been very careful with money. I don't like to spend unnecessarily and I like to maximize what I can save. Last Friday, I went online to pay my credit card on what I thought was the due date. To my surprise, there was a late charge fee already posted the day before. I remembered checking the statement a week earlier and thought that I have till Friday to pay. I must have mistaken what day exactly the due date fell on. I'm mad at myself because this is the first time I told myself that I should wait until the due date to pay so that I don't have to part with my money until I absolutely need to. My mission to save money ended up costing me instead Perhaps I'll just partially blame myLot to ease my anger at myself. I've been on myLot a lot lately and that may have caused my lapse of memory of what day it was. So I may not be able to enjoy my first pay out here as much as I'd like to... Have you done something that make you mad, or upset, or disappointed at yourself?

You're right, we can do without all these added expenses. It's better to avoid them if at all possible.

I have done that several times in the past. It feel bad to pay for the extra charges yet you would have avoided it. I just like the way you are concerned about saving some money. It is really good.

Thanks! I'm kicking myself as I realize also that there are much more better ways I could have spent that AUD50 on.

I have made mistakes like that before. It's doubly frustrating when we're trying so hard to save money then make a mistake that costs us. I bought a pair of pants that I just knew would fit. They were on sale, no returns and no money back, but I thought since they were marked the same size as I always wear, I'd take a chance. Of course they didn't fit and I was just out the money.

Exactly. I've planned to pay more than minimum payment on my credit card each month to pay it off quicker and save some interest charges. Because of my silly mistake, the planned saving goes to pay the late fee Btw, I've bought no returns items that didn't fit either before. They ended up in eBay, though. Even if I didn't get the whole money back, at least I got something.

I had not yet faced such problems in my life but I have some situations which made me to curse myself and it was related with the mistakes which I had done in my life. I had never cursed for such money related items becuase Money can come and goes at any time in our life. So I always hope that I will have it soon. This encourages me from such sadness

Good for you. Part of growing up is realizing your own mistake and learning from it. I'm just mad at myself on this particular incident because it's such an easy mistake to avoid if I had paid closer attention to details (dates in this instance)

You can just see it as a lesson so that the same fault will be never happened in next time. I still didn't happen the things like this, in order to pay for your credit card in time, you can just pay for it earlier before the last set time. there is a proverb, plans can't keep up with changes, so we should learn to do something earlier than the last set time.

Yes, I shall give myself plenty of time before the due date to make next payment. It's not a nice feeling to be out of money unnecessarily. There are plenty other much more useful things I can do with AUD50 instead of paying a late fee that I could have easily avoided.

I have a very bad spending problem. Whenever I get money, I spend most of it on the first day. I try to spend less but if I see something that looks cool to me, I can't help buying it. I hate myself for buying the items and I barely even use them. I hate myself for that.

My spouse is a spender, so we're totally opposite of each other. But we've been together for almost 30 years, so we have learned a lot from each other as well... We help each other so one won't be too stingy and the other won't be too wasteful. Welcome to myLot, btw... Hope you'll enjoy your stay here
