do you trust online friends?

can you trust someone in a chatroom? i just want to know about this. because im just curios why some of them are interested to go chatroom in yahoo messenger and have time or just say wasting time to entertain people whom they don't know. because all of us can pretend who we are in a chatroom. that is why how can i trust them:( ... i saw a movie which is the girl meet a guy at online conversation and become a lovers but at the end that guy lies about his identity and the life of the girl ruined because of the true identity of the guy... :( sad story but i know its a movie.
what can you say about this?just want to know your opinion....tnx and God bless ^_^

it's better not to trust people especially if you just know them online.If you got the chance to know that person much better.but as long as you don't know them personally don't give your trust though they say that they're not lying,you don't really know if it's really true..your safety is much more important.
I've heard some stories also about a girl who know a guy through online they became lovers but she keep it to her family ,then one day they decided to meet,the girl don't know that the guy is old ,far different from the identity that he gave to her.Sadly she got raped.
So it's not really a good idea to just give your trust to someone you just meet online.
