hi friends.i was watching a weekly spoof show just yesterday and they were as usual messing with IPL.
but they said a few things which though funny, sounded very true.
its goes something like "the great Nawab of Pataudi played with just one eye but sachin tendulkar takes rest because of one toe injury"
i mean i saw Kumble bowl with bandages around his head and take a very crucial wicket.
but when it comes to tendulkar, after that dennis elbow or something, the only injury he seems to be suffering were just fingers and toe injuries and miraculously he goes abroad to perform surgeries.must have insured his toes.
finger injury and missing matches, somewhat understandable, but toe injury and resting.
confusing considering the same man batted with tremendous back pain in a test against pakistan and almost won it,resting because of toe injuries.

So stardustcdsd, Sachin did play in Chennai with back injury but that injury came to the picture in that match only, so was the Kumble's injury. They had to play because no others player could replace them in that match.
Injuries prior to match, no body will take risk in league matches unless it is a huge match(finals of semifinals) where players can play with little bit of niggles here and there.

this same sachin played in IPL final for Mumbai with some stitches in his hand. i don think to take rest if there is injurious ( even minor injuries) is not a fault in IPL because it is only a club cricket and not for nation. so taking rest from IPL is not such a serious problem and also Mumbai has lot of talented players in bench to replace .

Hmm... Well, this concept of resting because of things like toe injuries or finger injuries is just merely an excuse for not playing. I don't want to sound anti-Sachin, but, this is the hard cold truth. Sport superstars, especially, those like Sachin have this tendency to just become complacent after achieving a major milestone - in Sachin's case - the 100th Hundred.. Since they can't tarnish their reputation by publicly stating - "I don't want to play" - come up with injury excuses to avoid playing.
At the same time, we also have players like Yuvraj Singh who was going through grueling & physically weakening chemotherapy sessions to get rid of his tumor just so that he can come back & play cricket to the best of his ability. Its all in the mind...
