I am planning to leave my husband. I may have to move into a smaller place with my daughter so but so long as we go, I will be happy. I am ready to move on with my life. My daughter and I deserve much better!!!! I may have to move to a smaller place to keep my costs low. Are there any tips to cutting expenses? I know for a fact that I will not have cable, but we can watch the local programs, and sometimes we check out movies from the library as well. Any ideas on how to save money and cut costs will be appreciated. Thanks.

that is too bad,God created marriages to be forever. anyways, use the library as much as you can. we can go online to order books and movies from the library, see if you can do that as well. i have found the library often gets pretty current movies. plan your meals and grocery shop accordingly. shop at thrift stores (you never know what you will find).

This is some how a very big and important decesion you are planning to make .I suggest you to make a list of advantages and disadvantages you and you daughter will have to face after this Bold step but once you have made your mind then be bold and strong as fraternity is not the name of the women and show your husband that even without him you can brought up your in a very good manner.however,it would not be easy but you just give you level best cut of the luxuries and start numbering your basic needs first set a goal and monthly budget plan of how make your affordable and convenient ,for more help you can always do some freelancing jobs available and earn some cash flow .I hope you will like my advise.

Hi, I hope your decision will cause you to have a better life. However, i'm actually a little curious as to why did you decide to leave your husband? But i'm sure that are many ways to cut your expenses. Actually, if you don't have cable, it doesn not really matter, most importantly, you need to have a computer, so at least you can watch shows from them. And this saves you cost of buying a television! Good luck.

Leaving a relationship is never easy. If you have tried or if there was any danger in the relationship than you are doing the right thing. You should cut back on eating out if that's what you do. If you don't have to drive than don't that will save some money. When you move in your place unplug things you are not using and don't feel bad about not having cable because I didn't have cable for at least a year. Find a suitable place to stay that is within your budget don't go over because you'll have problems down the line. I wish you all the best and you will be in my prayers.

There are many, many ways to cut costs. Whole books have been written about it. There are sites on the internet that have a lot of tips and ideas, so if you search for "frugal living" or something like that, you'll probably find more ideas than you could ever use. Cutting cable is a good place to start. Learn to use vinegar and baking soda and other inexpensive products in place of high priced cleaning products. You can clean a bathroom entirely, mop a floor and scrub the kitchen stove with just vinegar and baking soda. You can make your own laundry detergent for a fraction of the cost of what's in the store. Shop second hand whenever you can. Some people think it's beneath their dignity, but there are brand name and very good quality items out there second hand if you take the time to hunt them down. Clothing, furniture, dishes or whatever you need, including games, movies, music and so on, are a lot cheaper used. Watch utility use if you're paying for it. Keep lights out when you don't need them, turn off the TV (and unplug it) when you're not watching it. Take short showers, don't waste water for anything. Turn down the heat or turn up the AC a notch or two. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Good luck to you.

We do lots of game nights in to save money and still have fun. It makes it seem like we are struggling less when we are having a lot of free fun. We also cook together as a family. Its both fun time and we are cooking a meal instead of buying one. The library has a good selection of movies, books on cd and things to read. Get a cookbook and try new recipes. Look for a place that will cover your utilities in part of your rent. And maybe even try to get some alimony from the x hubby if you need it.

I am pretty bad at 'cutting back' but I have heard a few tips... Like, shop at discount food stores (such as Aldi), quit drinking soda (get Koolaid if you really need something sugary to drink), shop at thrift stores instead of retail stores, and use coupons!!! We have some really big coupon-ers here on MyLot, maybe one of them will pipe in with some good advice.

Try to write everything you need. You have to watch every single penny you spend.
