I am so totally confused about kanji and Hiragana. Are they both Japanese? What are their difference and which one is more difficult to learn? Do you have any experiences in learning these two? I am so fascinated in Japanese language although I am not a Japanese but since I love anime; I grew up loving it then. It will be better to know more about their language but until now nobody can actually tell me what are the difference since here in where I'm at they're preety much not interested about it

There are 3 kind of characters in japanese. Hiragana, katakana and kanji. Hiragana is the most basic in japanese language and you have to memorise all the characters. Katakana is mostly used for words that sound similar to English, for example, keeki = cake. Kanji is actually pronounced using hiragana, for example, tanoshi = ???.the first word is in kanji and the rest are in hiragana. If you want to learn from the most basic, first, you have to memorise all the.hiragana characters. Hope this will help you. Ganbatte yo! :)

Hiragana has lesser strokes. They have like 3 or 4 strokes, just few. They are easier to memorize and you can learn them in just an hour whilst kanji has more strokes. It takes long to master all the Kanji characters. Kanji characters are derived from Chinese so it's more complicated. You cannot memorize all Kanji characters at once. They may represent just one syllable or the whole word. Like for example, in the Japanese word "yume" which means dream. You can write it in two hiragana characters (one character per syllable), but if you know how to write it in kanji, the kanji for "yume" is just one character.

Basically, the Japanese have three alphabets. Hiragana characters are used for local terms or words native to Japan. Katakana characters are used for foreign words or borrowed from other languages. Kanji characters (which are Chinese characters) are used as shorthand for syllables in common words. Both Hiragana and Katakana characters are based on phonetic syllables and are used in combination to form a complete word. While you can use Hiragana characters to basically spell out (in syllables) certain common words, common Japanese words appear shorter with Kanji characters.
