How it takes to be a good listener.

It really pays off to be a good listener. I'm working in a travel account as a call center agent. I usually book flights, hotel and cars. I normally sell in good amount as a part of the incentive programs and for this matter; I don't think that it is just about it. I've come up with an idea before as I worked with Cricket Telecommunications as a supervisor and I've encounter a lot of complaints that normally an agent cannot resloved. One good examples are change of numbers for a certain phone. Either they have that number for years and they cannot afford to loose it or for the sake of not being charged by a certain change fee. One thing is for sure; if it is a customer then we need to listen to them. Challenges like this is common for a customer service representative like me. Also with the travel account that I'm with. If a customer senses that you're not paying attention to what he/ she's saying; then chances are; you're not in sync with them. You're not on the same page or most likely to happen you will have some further errors that cannot be corrected without paying any fee; especially for flight tickets. If one is paying attention closely; you will less get mistakes and eventually get that mutual understanding with the customer, getting a connection during conversations and make someone feel better. And it is all because you are a good listener. Even if you may not be a call center agent or a sales rep; being a good listener in every aspect helps. Paying good attention to somebody else's needs and attending to their concerns is important. As a friend; you need that. As a sister; you're going to need that. Also as a daughter or a granddaughter; it is also essential. Share your experiences on how you made a difference in someone else's lives by just listening. In my point of view; even if I don't know the person personally; not only the fact that the customer is bringing revenue for the company but you shed a light to their doubts and answered their concerns at that crucial moment which made their day complete.
