As I reminisce the times that i went to Boracay September last year; I'm thinking of sharing some experiences and routes on how to get there. In Cebu Pacific; you will get a flight for as low as Php500-1000 this time of the year. Last September I got a flight from Manila to Kalibo for only Php1 and the rest of the return route is a ship to Manila Port Area. I really love it. I may not stay that long in there but I was able to see the whole island as I walk around in the shore and on their high grounds. Essentials that you need when traveling are H20; Digicam and a great huge hat while walking around the beach. Ussually prices of tricycle rides there are really expensive if you're a tourist (Php25 or like $0.40) but in my experiences; map in handy is really a saver. Start walking from Station 1 going back to station 3 to save fares and if you really want to save cottages there are nearby locals who are willing to offer their places or huts for a night stay for as low as Php400-500 (or $10/ night) Don't fall for their buko juices which is highly expensive: Php50-100 per fruit (and i was like; huwaaat? It's price doubled unlike in the city. It should be cheaper anyhow) and for the way back using "banka" (or local boats); Going High grounds will allow you to experience a great Boracay experience as well. I mean; who says that you can only enjoy Boracay on its sands? They have that huge terrain of trees and walking paths to choose from. From the high grounds even if it is sunny; the seabreeze is very nice and you won't feel the heat afterall. You will be able to see the nearby islands near Boracay; one of those they call it Turtle Island. they also have local ground water which is potable to drink while you're hiking. They also offer value meals and usual bakeries near the roadside are common so you won't get hungry that much and you'll be able to enjoy their local bread and delicacies. Fishermen in the locals are also accomodating. They let me stay and eat for awhile as we check other islands; also free of charge. i really don't know why but as I ask them; they just answered; "We're just being accomodating to visitors. Take it as a gift." Way to Tabon is better because of the cheaper fare and shortest travel time back to either Kalibo. They only offer Php25 boat fare back to the Ibajay Area (Unless you want to be back to Caticlan; then don't take this route then.) You can take pictures before leaving the area for the last moment. Share your experiences and let me know if you also have any questions ahead. Hope we can organized a small getaway at this point in time; since it's summer ;D
