Clint Dempsey scored a late late equalizer to hurt Chelsea's chances for a Champions League spot. Chelsea took the lead to a Frank Lampard opener, but were stung by the 82nd minute equalizer from Fulham. With this draw, Chelsea are now 5th in the table, 2 points behind Newcastle and Tottenham who are themselves further 2 points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand. Tottenham are in 4th spot on 59 points, same as Newcastle, but ahead on goal difference. Who do you think will clinch the final Champions League spot? Cheers! Ram

I got to see this match. Chelsea's goal was a gift. There was no penalty! So it was Karma for Fulham to tie the match! I think Arsenal will clinch the final spot. They are playing inspired soccer.I think they can hold on.

So Arsenal will be third. But fourth? I have no idea. Who do you see being 4th?

I think eventually it would be Chelsea. But I would love it to be Newcastle. The Toon army deserve it for their loyalty!! Cheers! Ram

Mind you there are 4 champions league spot. So currently the first two will be taken by Man United and Man City. The next two are up for grabs. So Arsenal right now is in third. The fourth is whether Tottenham and Newcastle are tied on. Cheers! Ram

It was too bad that Chelsea could not get all the 3 points. The only consolation for them was that Spurs suffered a shock loss at home to Norwich City. Arsenal is occupying the third spot at the moment and having a match in hand. No doubt they are definitely the firm favorite to take the third place behind the 2 Manchester teams, but the point difference between the 4 teams that are vying for the 2 UCL places is just 4 points. With 5 matches to go, anything could still be possible. Newcastle is the surprise package this season. How far have they achieved to still be in the race for an UCL spot in the last 6 matches! Spurs has been an eye-catching team for most of the season. But I hope Chelsea will be the 4th team for UCL next season as well as to win the UCL this season. I would like to see Di Matteo smiles.

Arsenal have now gone 5 points clear of the chasing pack. So I guess they will now take the 3rd spot. Chelsea is currently trailing both Spurs and Newcastle by two points. Looking at the runs left, I think Tottenham has probably the most easier of matches leading up to the finish of the three. Cheers! Ram

On paper it definitely looks like Spurs is the 4th team but when even the mighty Manchester United could lose at bottom placed clubs like Wigan and Blackburn, it is far from certain that Spurs would be able to get the points from the "easy" opponents. Anyway, that is football and it just adds more suspense towards a thrilling end to the current season.

It is pretty close at the moment. Arsenal is third. Two points behind are Tottenham and Newcastle. Another two points further down is Chelsea. With 6 more games to play and if based on current form, Arsenal and Newcastle will clinch it. But all it takes is two negative results and the table will change drastically. With Man Utd will surely take the title, at least this top 4 finish will provide some excitement until the end of the season.

After yesterday's win Arsenal have moved up 5 points clear of the chasing pack. I think with 5 games left, Arsenal should sew up the 3rd place. The key would be their next match against Chelsea. If they win this then I think they will definitely take the third. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Man United seem to be on their way to another title. But this response probably is posted under a wrong discussion. This current discussion is about Chelsea's quest for a Champions League position. Cheers! Ram

Yes, that is one way for them to make to the Champions League next season. Unfortunately, I do not see them getting past Barcelona in the semis though. Cheers! Ram

Well, there's no doubt that Manchester United are going to claim the Premier League, but I'm not very sure that Chelsea are going to reach the 4th place. They had make too many mistakes and I'm a Chelsea fan, but I think that Newcastle United deserves a spot in the Champion's League. The only hope for Chelsea is a good performance in the Champion's League this season, against Barcelona. I hope Chelsea will made the sensation and defeat Barcelona as incredible as it sounds.

I agree it is going to be very tough for Chelsea to make it to the 4th spot this season. I also agree with you that Newcastle probably deserve to win the 4th spot. But I believe nothing is for free, so there is still a lot of work for them to beat Spurs and Chelsea to the 4th spot. Cheers! Ram

I am not quite the football fun. I feel left out to the extent that it seems totally impossible to start over and catch up with my friends. I am always giving that blank look when it comes to discussions about which manager is buying which player and which team signed a contract with whom, but it’s just a matter of time before I am up to date in football.
