Do you agree that State Universities in the Philippines should have an increase on their budgets to be able to have a more quality education?

an increase in budget does not guarantee a quality education, although it helps to improve it. for me, state universities must compete with the private universities for funding in research and development. they must also seek other funding opportunities abroad. our government is already subsidizing more than 80 percent of the budget of state universities. the rest of the budget comes from the tuition and other fees that the universities charge the students. it is easy to put a budget if they perform well. sadly, state universities except UP and few others are at par with private universities.

I agree with your response. I think it will take a long time as well as a long consideration for the parents who send their students to public universities to accept the fact that they must pay for the education they wanted for their children. The world is changing and so does education. Nothing or little things barely resemble the old things and practices, even in education. Competition between schools are getting tougher and students should be able to compete in the industry where they want to belong.

I also agree with you! Because it doesn't assure us that the quality of education will be improve if they are going to increase the budget. :)

It must be increase, my friend. Because the budget will be used in many things to improve the status of the education in that state university. The in our country is that the government did not focus on improving the educational system in the country. They only rely on their mouth and never do anything that change the system.

That should have been the priority but what happened was they instead try to lower the budget causing students to rally in hate against the government. so sad that the candidate that i voted off was focusing on that primarily. right now, we don't have that quality education compare to other countries

Definitely. Quality education comes with a price. If state universities can't provide quality education then we can't expect quality graduates. In the Philippines where majority of the people can't afford college education, state universities are life savers.

Yeah it's true! State universities are the only hope of poor people in order for them to study in college. :)
