I've always had pain in my knee joint when I was in my teen years but always ignoring it.When I was 23,the pain was getting worse and when I had it checked, I was diagnosed to have Juvenile Arthritis and was given medications, the pain got better but then taking too strong medication.I do get pain sometimes but I really don't want to depend on my medicines anymore for a lot of reasons so I did some research and here 's what I found out.Foods can't cure it but at least can help to make your discomfort better. Here's the 7 GOOD food that eases the joint pain. 1.Fatty Fish or any foods with lots of OMEGA-3 fatty acids - decrease the production of inflammatory chemicals & contains Vit.D - prevents soreness and swelling. 2.Extra-virgin olive oil - has oleocanthal that blocks enzyme that produces inflammation. 3.Vitamin C rich foods like sweet peppers & citrus fruits -protects collagen 4.Brazil nuts - contains selenium ( less selenium in body leads to rheumatoid arthritis) 5.Onions and Leeks - contain quercetin,an antioxidant that inhibits anti-inflammatory chemicals - had an effect like ibuprofen and aspirin 6.Tart cherries - cuts inflammation half due to anthocyanins 7.Green tea - has antioxidant compound,epigallocatechin-3-gallate lessen severity of arthritis Need to avoid these 3 foods 1.Shellfish, red meat - builds up PURINE that is converted to uric acid that is trapped in joints 2.Sunflower, safflower, corn and soybean oils - high in omega 6 acids that increases inflammation 3.sugar -high in calories, tends to add weight, increase in weight puts more pressure on joints. Maybe most of you here are maybe aware of this already but then it's worth sharing this to fellow myLotters.

According to the radio program of natural healing (92.30FM radyo 5, every saturdays, 6-8am and sundays 10-12nn) I listened to, you must avoid anything coming from beans, any type of beans becuase it is high in uric acid. Coffee is included in the list since it came from coffee beans. Better to have rice coffee as alternative. Also, vegetables with seeds must be avoided, meaning ating the seeds is a no-no. Furthermore, coconut fruit or any food that has coconut milk must be also avoided since coconut are high in uric acid. You need to fluch out those uric acid in your system. One best thing to do is keep your body hydrated by drinking water too often. You can also take "cat's whiskers" tea or decoction. It help release the uric acid from your body thru urination.

Thank you for sharing this. My mom has arthritis as well and she stays away from anything that can increase her uric acid. Some fishes, the one with red meat as well a chicken and pork liver and inert are also foods she avoids. Having a form of sickness can greatly affect ones life. I also have the same issue with my old asthma. For me, it is important to eat healthy foods such a fruits and leafy greens in order to keep myself healthier. Let me adjust one more thing to reduce the inflammation, Turmeric. Turmeric is used in curries. They're actually pretty good for arthritis ridden patients. They also help brain memory and can help in Alzheimer's.

Hello there, many thanks for sharing this information with us. Although I don't have the Arthritis issue, it is good to prevent it. The food you mentioned I will take note and healthy. It is a good 'excuse' to have them!

Thank you very much for this informative discussion! I have arthritis and bursitis in my hips and shoulders and a few other important joints, like my thumbs. I have just begun taking a glucosamine chondroitin supplement in the hopes that it would help alleviate the pain and stiffness, allowing me to move around more and take off a few pounds which would also help with the pain in my hips. I haven't seen any changes yet but have only been taking this supplement for about a week now. I will be trying most of these suggestions now to see if I can get rid of at least some of this pain I'm having. I have increased Omega-3 in my diet along with antioxidants like green tea and purple grapes and grape juice.
