What could possibly be the difference between the two of 'em?
Here it is.
Mylot is a site for "discussions"...
Yes,and many of us here still don't really understand it.What could possibly be the difference between a discussion and a question-answer site?Here it goes..You can ask a question in yahoo!answers and there are people who just can copy and tell you the answer for the very same question.You could never discuss issues (atleast most of them don't do it there)
Whereas mylot--is a site to discuss,i see most of the people starting discussions and leaving it blank forever.They don't comeback to respond or comment to the responses they've got,atleast they say a thank you and nothing else.It's not what discussions are actually...
You never think about this--yahoo answers never allows you to comment on each and every answer,instead you choose one best answer and give your rating and tell them a thanks,and that's what you LITERALLY do!
Best answer vs Best response..
The one that really concerns me-- The best answers that you get there and the best responses that you get "here" are different..You respond to a discussion by suggesting 'em ideas or participate for fun.You're not "just" concerned with questions involving science and math--that's what is the most common in yahoo!answers... And i see people feeling that they've lots of best answers in yahoo! but have only one or two in mylot--that's only because you never want to go back to discussions--that's not discussion at all - if you never want to go back! You could possibly participate in one discussion if-and only if- you're willing to go back and comment again...
Mylot always says-Please be descriptive in your answers as much as possible..Doesn't mean after you reach 500,you've to copy and stuff lots into one answer to literally show that your answer is as descriptive as possible..That's not descriptive.When you respond to a discussion-you can give instances where you've faced the same situations and how you overcame it.Or when it is going to be a joyous occasion-how you celebrated yours.Or atleast ideas on how he/she should make that day...That's what discussing is all about-not just a,
"QUESTION AND ANSWER POLLING WEBSITE-That's not what myLot is
And at last,
MyLot "pays" you for whatever worth you do...
Does yahoo!answers pay? You get a best answer-possibly you could be happy being a top contributor of a particular topic but what actually is the benefit? Some happiness out of nothing much big!
Yahoo!answers is one good site--site for answering queries and questions(most of them are questions) whereas mylot is all about DISCUSSING ISSUES AND SORTING OUT..But the both of 'em are not two eyes to be alike.They are not two hands of the same person either.
What say?!
Yahoo answers--in my view-is not a cordial and co-operative site.There are many trolls.And you never get paid there, do you? You get some useless points, and you often get answers saying "I don't know" all like that!The voting system is a total waste out of it.
Those answers worth of nothing are the best ones there just because the samee troller has multiple accounts and gives himself votes for the best answers.That thumbs up and thumbs down are just given so that the leader board members "GO DOWN"-only for that!

I knew about this. MyLot and Yahoo answers are obviously different from each other. Though they are entirely different, there are some obvious similarities, like posting and getting response and choosing the best answer. Anyone who have experience joining the 2 sites knew about it.

That's really good if you knew about this! But i would not agree with this one-anyone who's been in both of thse sites don't know about it! because i saw a member asking about this one!

I really hate it when I want to find about something or something is bothering me, and either the responder says "I don't know," and does not add to it by writing, "but I did look it up and I would also like to know if such a such is true," so saying that I do not know and stopping there is no excuse. I have been on Yahoo, and there are times when someone does give me the information, usually a teacher of the subject, but a lot of the time it is stupid answers like when I looked about how to increase your volume, an idiot said "poke (pr1ck as if to stick with a sharp object) yourself with a pin." Trolls about and often the answers are based on the person's popularity.
Not so with mylot. WE discuss, there is no limit. I can go back to something that starts years ago, or months ago, and add my input on that.
I also hate when someone asks a question because even sometimes I know a lot about the subject and there are others who know more then I do, i.e. teachers, but after we give that person the information, all our responds are useless because mylot will delete the discussion.

Right!And that's one incredibly good point.. we answer even resolved questions here in mylot because they are not questions but discussions!We don't care even if the best answers are chosen here, but that's not the case there--i didn't think about it--good one :) and yeah--mylot is not about just sharing [u]Information[/b]--simple questions are always deleted(mine was also) ;) Never mind..I want to heed with the rules now on...
The guidelines-one!And I can see you're one old member here having a HUGE number by your side :) Good luck!

okay lets sing it out "My lot is a discussion site, a discussion site,a discussion site' and :"its not questions and answers tra la la la."
we discuss issues and problems and hope that we get some respontses. then having got them we further our discussion by commening on each and every response. fine so you do not have
time then "If you don't have the time, then don't do the crime" meaning if you cannot take time to comment to all who took time
to respond to you then don't do a discussion until you do have some time. walking out on your own discussion and all our responses without opening your mouth or your keyboard is tantamout to walking off when I respond to your conversation. you walk off while I am talking, I will not bother the next time. it takes t o to make a discussion come alive you the poster and us the responders, and if we respond to thin air, do we have to respond to other discussions of

shrinithi oh I was feeling rather silly when I responded to
this. i used to listen to a crime series on t.v.and this main character was always say ing if you don;t have the time, then'don't do the crime" meaning if you do not wish to end up behind barsthe don't get yourself in trouble.Yes i am going on myfifth year'here and am retired s o tim e is about all I do have,money on the other hand I do not have. lol.,As for tunes I am not musical inclined either
so someone else would have to compose a good tune. lol

I have never participate or join yahoo answer. Just get there when I want to find something and the page came out when googling for some web. It always turns out like the first two or three responds are related to the questions while the rest are just nonsense comments. Plus in yahoo answers we did not have a chance to get to know the members while it is totally different here. Anyway most people here like to compare mylot with facebook but facebook too not the same as mylot~(^^)

Yes,that's going to be the advantage here, though i got only 82 people rating me as positive.So there are 18% of people who never liked my questions or responses and whatever i did so long!So sad..

Oh yes,
All those nonsense comments out there.More of them rules the community.Plus there are many other stuffs where you have been out of yahoo! answers without any reason for you have been violated and sent out.That's so illegal.I could hear it from a lot of them.All they according to their wish would rate you as (thumbs down) without any reason.But you might have given the correct answer.It all depends.
And mylot with facebook?Yes, i have seen but no way i could admit with it! There's nothing similar about these two sites and no doubt i love myLot more than the latter.

The biggest difference is that mylot pays you, yahoo answers doesnt. In yahoo answers, you want to get answers directly. People post questions and waits for an answer, just Questions and Answers. In mylot, it involves discussions. Its different because its more personal and people share their experiences and opinions.

Mylot pays you for whatever "worth" you post here.The matter is all about quality and nothing else.Discussions that are usually discussed everytime--are the top rated always.Experiences and opinions, yes,and we also ask for it, don't we?

Yes Yahoo Answers unfortunately it's becoming a joke, they should sweep and take down all the accounts that are just joking there, I think they are trying to be funny and take print screens for funny Yahoo Answers you know, there are tons of them in humor blogs, I even like when the question seens genuine.
But as they are not a paid site they are not that tough.
I don't think information in yahoo answers is trustable anymore, it already seen good times.

Really lengthy discussion indeed. Yahoo answers is useful when we want quick answers -- for example for some maths problems I get answers quickly from yahoo answers. Maths is not allowed in mylot.
Mylot -- is useful to make friendship from people all over the world -- also helps us to earn to few dollars.
True in my lot people are not allowed to use pasting too much. After 500 though one gets the permission copy and paste -- normally people do not do that. If anybody does that there are others who will find it out and tell.
Best Response -- doesn't get any extra remuneration but is a booster for the member from other members. In yahoo of course best answer gets you reward points.

Yes,i have wondered at times if myLot allowed math,how would the site be like,then?
But yahoo!answers does.And yeah,that was a really lengthy one.Because we are not here to read but on the contrary to write. (WINKS)
MyLot is a place where we could see people living in different cultures and this is how i got to understand how our Indian culture is unique.When they use copy/paste for copying pasting links of mylot or points in guidelines, they won't be offended of plagiarism.
Yes, exactly the best response indeed makes us happy.Atleast i get the feeling that i have satisfied one member with my answer.(LOL).
