Timber so costly

All my friends know we are renovating a portion of our house, when we dismantled this portion built in 1890, we could get wooden beams that were used in the ceilings; they are so strong and hard, iron nails can be driven into them with much effort; so hubby took them to a saw mill and got them sawed; several saw blades broke. But that is not enough for the new set of doors, windows and their frames.
Today he went to buy timber here that can be sawed; nowhere dry logs are available; he could contact 2 traders who cut logs illegally from forests, well they bribe the guards and officials, all here know that very well.
The price for dry ‘sal-wood’ is 2500 rupees to 5000 per cubic feet depending upon its thickness plus transporting charges of 500 rupees. This has to be sawed in a saw mill again.
There are cheap woods, not so dry woods but not advisable at all.
What is the cost at your place, what kind of wood you use, do you get that easily?
Please comment and share your valued opinion.
Sorry, I am no more regular here because of my and hubby Professor’s health issues. Please bear with me, if I get time I will visit mylot.

Timber and logs are available here, but there are some species that are not available like narra, mahogany and some hard woods. There are also illegal cutting of trees here but like some they can go against the law. Usually most of the houses here are build with cement and hollow blocks and some made of plastic materials. But there are those who prefer timber and logs for their homes. Many in the market though although prices vary.

Doors and windows we prefer to be wood, walls are always concrete though.
Best of luck.
