Anny in Titanic

I am not talking of our family friend Anny of Davao in Philippines, but of Anny Clamor Funk from USA, she worked in a missionary school in Janjgir of Champa district of Chhatisgarh of India. She came there in 1906, opened a school in 1908 and ran the school till 1960; this Scholl was closed due to lack of funds and management. So to go back to her home she reached Mumbai, from there she was supposed to go by a ship named S. S. Haverford, but she got a ticket for Titanic. On 1912 April 14th night it hit the iceberg, Anny could reach the deck in time but in the lifeboat only one seat was vacant; Anny sent another woman and her baby in that seat. In her honor a documentary film named ‘REMEMBERING ANNY FUNK’ was made; also her name appears in the list of 1500 persons who died in this mishap. Hats off to Anny.
