Income Taxes done and mailed on 4/14/12

I got my taxes done and then mailed them on 4/14/12. I had some new things to deal with this year and these were complicated by the confusing and misleading worksheets that I had to use in doing my fourth quarter estimated taxes and in doing the final version in April. Because of the poorly written and misleading instructions for one worksheet I had to use to figure my 4th quarter payment, I under paid my taxes for 2011 which is the first time that has happened in about 18 years. Now also I just received a publication I ordered in Jan. today the 18th of 2012 which, of course, is after the deadline. Fortunately it appears it was not critical. It would be nice if it had the information I need for 2012 that should be in it or another publication that is on the same subject but neither one appears to address the issue that I have a question about. They make the taxes more complicated every year and the information supplied is poorer written and more misleading every year.
