Why do Americans Do or NOT Do What They Do?

I do not Post here very often anymore...I got tired of the shallow topics. Why won't Americans pull the Ipods out of their ears and turn off their "Smart Phones" long enough to see what is happening to their country? Why do they expect a "free ride" from 'Uncle Tom'? What happened to self respect and pride in one's accomplishments? It has become shameful to succeed in America today. Everyone expects to be taken care of by the Gov. They want the "Rich" to be taxed to support them...Ba~tards! This is not how I was raised and it is not how I raised my children. This is not "Moral"! This is a combination of socialism and communism...How many of our parents and grandparents died in wars to save us from this end? Our elected politicians feel that they know better than we what is "good" for us...Ba~tards. Their soul purpose in life is to get what ever they can as long as they are in office...! I do not care if they are left or right, they are wrong. Our Pres. attorney has admitted in open court that his birth certificate is forged...But, that is not important. What is important is that his "Popularity" is the reason that he should be on states ballots. The constitution is not to be considered. People wake up and smell the dung we are mired in...Our Gov. has gotten so out of control that it does not matter which party is in power; we are doomed if we do not vote them all out and start over. We are doomed if we do not fight back... Shalom~Adoniah

Hello, Adoniah. I want to thank you for posting this. I have had many discussions with many people about this very subject. They all agree, one because they work hard and are tired of the "lazies" as they call them. Two, because it is not only draining on our economy, but our health. Three, because it makes for a careless life for their, and our, children. We are giving our children a sick country, and no way to fix it. It reminds me of my state. "Keep Oregon Weird". REALLY? Is that what keeps people up at night? Worrying about if they are different enough? How about, "Keep Oregon Fed", or, "Keep Government Out of My Freedom"? I am sad sometimes to be called an American, because of what we allow our government to get away with. I am happy to live in a land of "mostly still free" but I think that in time, that too will change. Dont get me wrong, our government sometimes does the right thing. Like the vote for the pastor in prison in Iran. But with national issues, it seems that they are sometimes out to lunch....Now you got me started... so, that is what I have to say. Have a great day...

I am proud to be an American...I am not proud of the gov. of America. There is a big difference! No matter what an idividual tries to do; if the gov. is hell bent on destroying capitalism then only the people as a whole together can fix the mess!

CODYMAC, is there anyway that what the media has told us about our 'impression' out there in the world is not as bad as they say? I was thinking about how high Bush's poll numbers were right after 9/11. Suddenly, within a few weeks they started to fall, why? and did they really fall as fast and as far as reported? Did it have anything to do with the media and the 'impression' THEY gave of his actions? I'm not saying our government has done no wrong, please understand. But I DO NOT trust the media as far as I can throw them ALL. What do you think, have we been duped in even a small way on what is actually going on?

I am sorry about any misunderstanding, but I was just meaning that I am ashamed of our Government giving the world the wrong impression of us. I am happy to live here, and be as free as I am, but I fear it will not last long. I just wish that I could be happy with government too. Have a great day, Adoniah...

Who is Uncle Tom? I think you mean to refer to Uncle Sam? Do us a favor, learn the American slang before you criticize and entire nation. To me it sure doesn't sound like you have any idea what you are talking about.

Wouldn't it be grand if we the people could do just what you suggest? I am with you on all of this. Except I still keep trying to get people to see, even by or with the 'shallow' topics. For instance, this 'dog war' thing. Do people not see that our president is using Psychology 101 (as one of your responders suggested) against us? Why bring up how someone treats their pet? I do have some hope. Both parties are neck in neck in the polls. I keep hearing from the pundits and talk radio call ins, how sick people are of this mess. Maybe something good will happen in November. There is a website, kickthemallout.com that suggests the very same thing you did. What needs to happen is just what you say, take the iPods and the SmartPhones and the Plasma TVs and put them down and start listening. Start THINKING for ourselves and not just taking our 'news' in sound bites.

I don't really think anyone wants to rich taxed to support anyone. People just want them to pay their fair share. These tax cuts to the rich all started because someone came up with the trickle down theory. They believed that is wealthy people had more money to put into their businesses, it would "trickle down" to their employees and improve jobs and standards of living. Well, time has shown that it just doesn't work. The wealthy just use the proceeds from paying less taxes to improve their own life style and increase their profits. It's time to try out another theory, and right now, that theory is that they pay their fair share.

Here! Here!. It is sad for the shape of how things are becoming. Only problem is how do you get away from it without starving millions of people and their children? They need educated but our education system has failed us. And when it appears that some what and need these people because they are the ones that are voting them into office.

We are forgetting the very impressive Welfare Reform that Newt Gingrich and Shaw got signed into law under Clinton. Here we had reform and bipartisan cooperation, it is possible. But not under this president, no matter what the right comes up with in the house, Reid won't even let it to the floor for a vote. It isn't the Republicans stonewalling, it is REID. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Responsibility_and_Work_Opportunity_Act

Then there is the possibility that this is all PLANNED: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloward%E2%80%93Piven_strategy http://www.infowars.com/obama-the-cloward-piven-strategy-and-the-new-world-order/ The left (as a whole) does not care for the poor as they try to make us think they do. It is a means to an end.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloward%E2%80%93Piven_strategy Article on the Cloward Pivens Strategy: In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when "the rest of society is afraid of them," Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would "the rest of society" accept their demands.

I put my faith in freedom of speech, where else can I place it? This government is not what I consider "The American dream" but I have faith that: it will get worst before it gets better, people will continue on being to lazy to watch the news, and facebook will grow to on day rule the internet completely. This country is spoiled. This generation needs a struggle in order to grow to find out what really matters. TheworD:-)
