I was at the grocery yesterday and was looking for some angelfood cake. I guess not many bakeries make them anymore. Its my favorite cake. Anyway they are doing spring cupcakes and mothers day is around the corner too. So while I was browsing I got to see these floral cupcakes. while they are absolutely gorgeous can you imagine the richness of all that frosting. What a sugar rush! Anyway I am thinking about getting one for my motherinlaw and her roommate for mothers day. It seems in a nursing home the ladies are always looking for the next piece of cake and sugar rush LOL Anyway what a cupcake!

They don't even look like cupcakes, just a bunch of icing. Imagie how many calories are in ONE. Cupcakes are very popular now. A store up here sells a small cake with cupcakes all around it. Even some wedding cakes are made of cupcakes. I have read that they are being replaced by doughnuts, but I would rather have a cupcake. I am surprised that a nursing home would have cakes. I'm sure there are a lot of diabetics living there.

There are tons of diabetics in the nursing home but every day is someones birthday and this home seems to give them all cake LOL While these are pretty I would never be able to eat that much frosting and like Barb said above where is the cake hidden LOL

Yeah, cupcakes are the rage these days. But I have to say, while I enjoy looking at them..most I wouldn't bother eating. To me, a cupcake is a treat and should be sugary and sweet etc. But these days they put things like bacon, peppers, spices and all kinds of stuff that to me is not cupcake material! I don't want to eat a cupcake with bacon on it! The two flavors clash so much!. Or pancake flavored cupcakes, that is just gross! I watch the show Cupcake Wars...and although fun to watch, many I wouldn't want to even try..they have such odd flavors or ingredients in them. I mean, sprinkled with beef jerky? Yuck! And I know what you mean about the pile of frosting on top! A bit to much for me to! I admit, I like a bit of icing with every bite, but they put so much on top...pretty and intriguing as it is...you have to eat most of the frosting before you even get to the cupcake! Good as it is, it is a little to much.

Is there even any cake in there? It looks like a tart shell full of icing.

They look beautiful! But I don't think I would want to eat them, they rather seem like nice decoration for me. I'm sure the ladies would love them too! I didn't know they are called angelfood cakes.

Wow.I make many a deco cupcake yet never seen this before which makes me wonder what it is made of in order to hold that shape. Maybe Royal Icing yet the frosting would be hard. Was it? If made of store bakery buttercream..probably crisco & powdered sugar. (yum - grease & sugar..lol) Don't get me wrong, they look gorgeous & tempting yet I would just be worried on just what is in it. I would be sure to ask, before buying - beware of the pretend buttercream..lol

Yes they are lovely indeed. Too lovely to even eat! I'd love the boat load of frosting it doesn't bother me eating it. Though like most we shouldn't and only have this as a rare treat for anyone.
