Are indie developers/companies the only help for horror gamers?

Greetings horror gamers, I've been really into a mod site the last nights searching for some interesting horror mods about games I've played and I noticed a lot of good works from indie developers. Even good horror mods for games that you wouldn't expect like Half life 1 or Duke nukem 3d. That made me think. Are indie developers the only hope nowadays to horror games? Horror gaming seems forgotten from companies that "founded" it, like capcom and konami, all horror classic titles are going closer to action than horror, latest horror games loses their "horror touch" of their previous releases and most of the well-known companies don't develop horror games anymore, so that makes me think that maybe devoted horror fans that develop games or mods (or even indie companies, like frictional games) are the only hope for this genre of gaming. (Since I've tried "Cry of fear" as I said in my previous post about it, I have to say that it seems so far like an excellent job, surely recommended :) )
