Many people find humor as something that makes life more bearable and has a generally positive effect in their lives. For others, having humor is generally a waste of time and doesn't have any good effects on them. Many people have different experiences with humor. How about you, do you think you have good sense of humor or not, and how does humor affect your life?

I think in most cases you can be most funny with those people who are closest to you. It's difficult to be funny and humorous to strangers, although professionals like comedians have no problem doing that.

Well, like you all said, humor is the best medicine. Humor is very infectious too. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When humor is shared with your friends it binds people together and make them happy and it increases their intimacy. If you think about it, laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. If you are stressed, feeling diminish pain or your immune system is weak, humor and laughter could really help you. I guess that really means that humor is the best priceless medicine, who can be fun, free and really easy to use too. One good laugh could bring your body and mind in perfect balance. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. Humor is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationship and supporting both physical and emotional health. I've heard that a good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after. I think that's incredible. Shared laughter is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting. All emotional sharing builds strong and lasting relationship bonds, but sharing laughter and play also adds joy, vitality, and resilience. And humor is a powerful and effective way to heal resentments, disagreements, and hurts. Laughter unites people during difficult times.Incorporating more humor and play into your daily interactions can improve the quality of your love relationships— as well as your connections with co-workers, family members, and friends. So my advice is to laugh more and be happy ! Cheers!

Well said! Yes, I agree that humor not only heals the body, but most especially the spirit and the mind. Having more humor in our lives may be the answer to life's most troubling issues. If we can laugh in our most difficult moments, then I think we have overcome that situation or circumstance. Humor is a positive influence in our lives...in our relationships as well. Let's all drink to that. Cheers!

I understand exactly what you mean jvincent...when you're humorous, you're happy...and when you're happy, sadness and depression flee...and soon frustration flees as well with them.

Thanks for reinforcing the idea of humor's healing effects to people and it's ability to reduce stress. I think it's almost impossible to find any negative effects of humor, but we can find probably hundreds of negative effects on people with no sense of humor.

That's so true. Humour is the best medicine. I am always joking around even the hardest phases of my life to survive. I don't know what I'd do without laughter and its magic.

Yes I think there are a lot of illness that was cured by humor. I watched the youtube video of the popular movie "The Secret" and they showed there an Asian woman who cured her cancer by watching a lot of comedy tvs and imagining she was cured of that illness. In a few months, she was totally cured without chemotherapy treatments. I think in many cases, chemotherapy causes more harm than good...anyway, that's only my personal observation. Anyway, I hope you're in good condition now, doroffee. Take care!

I love joking around or just listen to a good jokes. The one that i respect most is Russel Peters and i watch every of his shows. He maybe racist, but to make people laugh is another things. I used humor to enjoy myself and people around me and relieve everyone from tension of hard day working like what i did when i am working part-time at this restaurant. They all understand me even though my humor sometimes disrespectful. Lastly, i know that i have a good sense of humor since most people i met would say that i'm funny or just plain crazy.

I believe it's a talent that is given to you, superbadx. If it works in lightening other peop day, then you become lovable to them...even if your humor can sometimes be disrespectful, because they know you can joke that way because you feel a sense of closeness to them. They can call it funny or crazy...but if you see them laugh or at least smile, you know it's good :D

I'm a generally serious person, but at times, when Im around people whom I'm comfortable with, my humor exudes. There's just too many problems in ones life, and humor helps to lighten things up for us. I feel good whenever I find myself loosening up sometimes.

I'm somewhat similar with you in a way that I'm more talkative with someone I'm already close with, and I find myself having a lot more fun and jokes with close friends and relative. Yes, I think humor has a way to relax our whole system and makes us feel better about ourselves.

Laugh, laugh, the world laughs with you. Weep, weep, the world weeps with you, The world needs your mirth, For it has troubles of it's own. This is a popular poem, and it's said a dose of laughter a day is the best medicine. I can't imagine a chap who thinks humor is harmful in any way. I write humor, and kindly check it out. Humor keeps you going when the going gets tough.

It's so easy to see why this poem is so popular...the play of words are perfect and interestingly made, but the main reason is the thought behind the poem. It shows the importance of humor and laughter in a troubled world who hungers for it. Yes, I agree beloved that probably without humor the world won't survive.
