I just found out on FB that one of my favorite people died on Friday the 13th.
I didnt see it on here or any where till now. Ive been waiting so long, i think at least 4 yrs for Johnny Depp to finally come out in the Dark Shadows movie. then this morning I saw on FB that Johnathan Frid has died on Friday 13th. how weird, huh?

I don't remember the show because I believe I was too young to watch it. I was born in 1981. I've heard some fans are nervous about how they are going to approach it. Like on the original, they didn't mean to be corny. And some fans are worried they are going to mock the premise without paying homage to the real spirit of it. Whatever that means.

Ambie, if you are curious about the original, it's all on dvd and available at the library. The first year or two were really drippy, but once they introduced Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) the show really took off. David Selby (Richard Channing on Falcon Crest) and Kate Jackson (Charlies Angels) also were some of the stars.

thats true mentalward, at the time there was not all this movies, bunches of vampire shows on tv, etc. thats why we so loved it. hardly any media had vampire things. today im afraid the young ones wont appreciate the old style. so im thinking they should love the way Johnny Depp made it like a comedy the movie one/ but they do seem to think it should be more serious. you just cant please them these days. 
i still think i will like the movie also. ambie, you may like it as you werent old enough to see the cheeky earlier supposedly serious one. catdla, thanks hon, for the youtube you sent. i loved Johathan Frid anyway and the old Dark Shadows.1 person likes this

i like most everything i can look at this awesome man in and hes great with comedy most times. i had thought he'd play a more dramatic Barnabus but its ok with me either way. maybe they will make a dramatic one later. who knows. at least its different

I was very saddned to learn about it yesterday. I almost have the complete series on DVD and I just loved Barnabas! From what I heard Johnathan Frid was a really nice man who reached out to his fans. So sad.

I'm really looking forward to this movie! I really like Depp and the movie is apparently going for the humor in a vampire's introduction to the 20th century--and in the disco age! 
Wow, sorry to lose Frid but he lived a good long life and a generation or two of people will remember him.

i did a search and now i see the confusion. its the later Dark shadows you are referring to i never got to watch it cause i had a very stressed out affair going on in my life at the time and watched very little tv. yes Quentin was very handsome i see

He was already 87 so I think he was that old already. I'm sorry to hear about it, I do not know much about him but I know the movies he's in. Everytime I hear news like this I feel kind of sad but for me we just have to move on and deal with it, anyway these people are with our creator already especially when they are good during their stay here on earth.

yes and altho he played a devilish vampire, he was very sweet in real life i hear.
