judgmental people really tick me off

I have to know, what gives people the notion that they have the right to pass judgment on others? This mainly seems to occur with church-goers. I will not say Christians because I know a lot of people who live what they preach. I say church-goers because these are the same people you will see at the bowling alley or the strip club on Saturday night while they look down their nose at you because you don't attend church. It clearly states in the Bible: Judge not lest ye be judged. Soooo, what makes people think they have the right to label someone and judge them or even go as far as to tell them they are going to hell for whatever reason??? It is my very strong opinion that unless someone is being injured or stolen from, people should live and let live. It is up to God to pass judgment on the souls that He created. Please help me understand what it is with people wanting to pass judgment on others. It is hard for me not to pass judgment on those that judge. I know that is just as wrong, so therefore I want to understand.

it's just the human condition. even you yourself have judge people. i wouldn't even say "judge", but at least sometimes you do have an opinion. this is natural. the only is that is bad about it is when people are crude with their opinion. it's wrong when people's opinion causes them to treat some one other than human, or make someone feel bad. that is the difference. i think there is only one way to understand people like that is to know that they are afraid of difference. they are narrow mind people in this world. that's all there is too it. as far as "church goers", they have built their whole lives on the front they are living on. they have to put other people down to keep up their own image, especially to there peers. it's like belonging to a gang. you may not want to shoot a victim, but your peer expect you to so you do it. when they put other people down and make a spectacle, they are just establishing their "rep" to there peers and other people who don't know better. it's really even kind of childish.

Thank you MoonGypsy!! I know I have judged, therefore I am trying to understand the process. True story, I never picked on anyone until it was expected of me (speaking of thinking back to highschool)...which is disgusting because I was severely picked on in school. You make a lot of sense though. Thank you very much for your response.

Yeah, judgmental people are so annoying and you can't avoid those kind of people. All you have to do is deal with them and let God pass the judgement to them. Just prove to them that they are wrong.

Anger is wrong also, is it not? Are these folks really being judgmental or are they just chastising one for wrong doing? God does tell us to correct our brother when we know he is doing wrong. If I see you doing wrong, even if it is something that I also do, I am bound by my faith to let you know about it so that you don't also suffer God's wrath also.

Point well made, I think, everyone should have an opinion as this would be a mighty dull world if we all felt the same way.

Well one thing is sure, Don't judge so that you will not be judge, it is biblical and proven. My advice is just ignore then and instead grab the opportunity to amend things. Then your life will be blessed.

I tend to agree with you, but I also want to hear from people that like to judge others and their reasons for feeling righteous enough to do so. I want to have a better understanding of that side of human nature. Thank you for your response. That's pretty much how I feel about it too.

The bible also tells us to let our brother know if he is doing something that is not right in the eyes of the lord. Could this be what they are doing? I do not attend church on a regular schedule as my wife does not think she want to associate with people who say one thing and do the opposite.

"The bible also tells us to let our brother know if he is doing something that is not right in the eyes of the lord." Therein lies the problem. Let's say 2 people are getting instructions on what to do in the woods. The instructor says "When you hear a deer coming, get outta they way!" Later that day, they both emerge seriously injured. One was run over by a deer and the other by a Deere. They both heard the same instruction but had very different ideas of which one posed a danger. I imagine it is the same with the "church-goers". They have their own interpretation of what is "wrong". And because they feel it is soo pertinent to tell "their brother" that he is doing wrong, it makes it ok for them to do wrong. I also feel that amidst this twisted ideology, some feel that they get brownie points for pointing out the wrongs of others. I feel they are a very self-centered group. They claim to be for the good of all mankind. Question. How many wars and other social maladies have the Buddhist and atheists started? For that matter, the Satanist? So is this an oxymoron or merely irony?
