Newcastle's push for Champions League football continued with a 3-0 drubbing over Stoke City. Papiss Cisse continued his scoring habit with another clinical finish. Cabaye scored the other two to seal the deal for Newcastle. With this win, Newcastle move into 4th place, 3 points behind Arsenal and 3 points ahead of Tottenham. More importantly they are 5 points ahead of Chelsea. Of course, Tottenham have a match later today against QPR to move back into the 4th place on goal difference. Cheers! Ram

Newcastle keeps surprising us. A team a year ago nearly avoided relegation and is now pushing for an UCL place a year later. A fairy-tail indeed! Whether in the end they get the coveted spot or not, they are surely the Cinderella team this season. Alan Pardew should win the manager of the season award and Newcastle, the team of the season.

Newcastle just got another boost. Tottenham slipped up once again at QPR going down 1-0. This puts Arsenal and Newcastle on pole position for the Champions League positions. Cheers! Ram

It is good for Chelsea too as they will have it easier to catch Tottenham. Chelsea can still deal with Newcastle as they will play each other soon. But Chelsea will need both their rivals to lose more points to stand a chance to grab the 4th spot.

Actually given the fact that Newcastle are 4 points ahead of Chelsea, they can theoretically lose that match and still finish above them. But that match two weeks later is going to be another do or die match for Chelsea. BTW, Chelsea also has a match against Liverpool pending!! Cheers! Ram

Even the fans of Newcastle would not have expected this. To think they wanted Alan Pardew out, what he has done is nothing short of amazing. What he did right was making the right purchase at the appropriate time. Initially, it is all about Ba and Cabeye. Come the January window, Pardew added Cisse to the fore. While Ba had lost some of his early season form, Cisse took over. This ensure that they surge is maintain. If they can grab the coveted Champions League spot, then this season will be deem as a success. If they can continue building for next season, then they will be a force to be reckon.

Cisse is probably turning out to be the buy of the season. He simply cannot stop scoring. And yes, it has been an incredible turnaround in fortunes by Alan Pardew and suddenly he is being touted to take the England job ahead of Harry. Cheers! Ram
