What do you usually do if you've got nothing to do?

It sounds a very non-sensible question at all but I often ask this to myself. I would plan not to do anything for the day yet I still come up of doing something. Doing nothing I thought is either just sleeping or being in a very comfortable place and position day dreaming. But both of them also makes me tired so I end up doing something to fill up my boring hours. I usually just listen to music while surfing the internet. These for me are the most no brainer activity that I call the nothing to do activity at which I don't get stressed at all. I am almost going to include eating but no, because if I ate too much and realized that I devoured all the forbidden unhealthy stuff on earth that I have been craving for then I get stressed and guilty after.:)

There are so many chores to do that are just simple and easy. You can clean your surroundings and your house and maybe all the rooms. Then when you are finish you can cook your food then plan something what to do the next day. This is more useful chore that tend not making you bored just waiting what to do.

Even house chores I have to plan and consider it as something to do activity. I am in a kind of job that is very strenuous to the body and requires a lot of concentration as well that is why I would just want to do something that does not give so much pressure to both the body and the mind after work.

Is your work very heavy that you like almost weightless chores anymore?Light chores are also having some weight by itself yet you must do something light like cleaning just to make your muscles working or you may become useless anymore for not doing house works. After these chore you can have your good sleep and have a massage therapist help you by their soothing massage.

Yeah, it is very athletic and indeed having a good massage makes me not do anything at all. Cooking and laundry (coz I do use loads of clothes due to too much sweating at work) for me are things I just automatically do and get them over and done with.

Awesome question there lol. But yeah sometimes its kinda tough to answer when you are actually asked this question. Well in my case being a 17 year old guy i have tons of things i can do when i have nothing to do. Like I could go swimming with my friends, play tennis or any other sport, for sure Facebooking and Youtube would be my first two choices. For some reason I sure wont do my school work haha, well getting back to activities I would prefer can be painting. I love painting. Also photography I have my iPhone 4s with awesome camera and amazing apps in app store is all i need for it. watching movies is only sometimes mostly I plan it :P. See as I told you this is one tough question I already spent 15 minutes answering this, not a slow typer though! Food is something I love to but my fridge says "Nothing to here, go back!" and I walk back. I know but i actually do have to obey my fridge or it wont have anything for me next day!

I was exactly like you when I was 17. I never ran out of anything to do. Sleeping wasn't part of it though. I always thought 24 hours was not enough for a day. There were just lots to do and not to do and doing more of the latter.lol. I would not even have time to go home at times so my house and fridge were practically empty. Just enjoy what you love doing and passionate about like as you have mentioned, painting and photography. Schoolwork is just a map to guide you in this chaotic world with so much to choose from.

I used to sit my butt on the couch & not move unless I was getting a snack. While my butt was planted on the couch, I'd surf the internet and watch movies or tv shows. My laptop cord is broken so now I can't surf the internet on the couch, I have to use the desktop & that chair is not comfy at all. SO, NOW, I plant my butt on the couch and either read or watch tv/movies while cross stitching or lay down & nap during the movie (I'll put on one I've seen a million times so I don't miss anything if I'm hoping to nap!)

I'd like to know what that is like myself. The fact of having nothing to do because there are many times where I just have plenty to do right there and a lot of it just really keeps me busy. I really find myself just not having time to take a breath, or barely having any time to really take that breath. It is really just one of those things where I am rather busy. Should I find myself not busy, I think that there is a moment where I just sit down and really just soak it all in. Soak in the freedom, perhaps head right over to YouTube and watch a video or two. Perhaps read a book. I would say that I listen to music but I do that when I am busy as well. Still there are just times where boredom is a release for me, the rare times it does happen.

I think this is the toughest question for teenagers because teen like me never get free all the time i got something to do like if i get free then Usually go on facebook and do some research for my firther study. In free time i use to watch movie and hangout with friends. I think for teen 24 hours for a day is short we need some more hours.

I am a Zen practitioner and in Zen there is a difference between doing nothing and just lazing about.. To do nothing is to still the mind and then as a Zen practitioner I am actively doing nothing which is energising and relaxing all at the same time. If there is nothing to be done, then it is an opportunity to just sit and be focusing on what is going on in my mind and body. Lazing about or trying to relax though is not very energising and can make a person feel very tired and sleepy.. All is a lesson in the art of living though. If I have nothing to do, I just sit and concentrate on listening to my breathing, experiencing what is going on in my body and nervous system and watching my thoughts come and go.. Zen practice is not easy or something many people want to do, but I find it hugely rewarding.. _Derek

When I have nothing really to do I find when I hop on the computer the day can pass in an instant . The internet is amazing in its ability to draw one (/me) in and take up incredible amounts of time. Whether its watching a video or movie on YouTube, or chatting with friends on Facebook or msn, or coming to MyLot and posting here, there seem to be so many things one can do!

If I have nothing to do, i pray and talk to God to bless me in the things I'll do next. Though it's a common practice for me to pray before I go to bed and as I woke up in the morning, when I have nothing to do it comes to my mind to talk to God to protect my family, relatives and friends and the people who needs prayers as a follow up. I also pray the rosary or read prayer books, should I don't have anything to do. If still don't have to do I take a nap but for sure when I wake up I'll take something to eat, a coffee and bread.

I know I get bored I usually go out to walk around some. but yet also I like crafts and sometimes I will try out my craft stuff and try to be a little creative with something differant. I make jewelry with my own ideas and sometimes others. I like to take pictures also of nature so I look for things like that. I hear music and movies at times but too much will make you loose interest. try out some hobbies or get one to fill in lost time. it does help.

The question is when nothing to do then what? It is very simple answer to this is you and every body cannot be blank. when nothing to do you take rest but taking test is a kind of doing something. We cant be undoer until we alive. The work may be creative or noncreative.

Well, if I got nothing to do I will surely pile up some sleep! Anything else, I will try to meditate. It will surely help my mind do nothing and think nothing for some moments. Try it out too! I will also do exercises in my free time or myLotting, but then if I do those things, then I have something to do already. Maybe I will do these stuff because they are really that not necessary to do, hence, it is not something I need to do.

Well, I will find lots of things to do. 1) Surfing the internet. 2) do a bit of sewing 3) cleaning the house 4) call my friends out for a drink 5) watch TV 6) cook a special meal 7) do a bit of exercise 8) read a book 9) try on the brand new clothes or dresses and figure out what accessories can match with 10) creating different hair styles for myself. LOL There are always things to do and I enjoy doing them.

Don't you want to get out of your house sometimes? How about working? Working can really take that boredom out of your system.

I don't think there such thing as doing nothing at all. Before, I would love to sleep but too much on everything is not healthy at all.

Mylotting :D! But other than that, I always find something to do. I usually write in my blog, play around with my make-up, sleep in, write poems/start a new novel, read a novel, browse around my favourite funny sites to have a good laugh, listen to music, have a hot bath, go for a walk, order my stamp collection... basically, what comes to my mind :).
