Do you say "Condolence" to the owner of a dying dog?

My friend; one of the admin of our online site, texted me this morning. Her thirteen (13) year-old dog died. In her text icon; there's a crying emoticon. I know how bad it feels for a owner having their dog died. I was so remorsed. It was my German Shepperd "Ritchia". I have all of her documents updated that she dies. She was fourteen (14) years old durign that time. Having your pet dog died (in my personal experience) is like having a relative or someone close to you died. If you're the owner; you tend to shout it out at your Facebook status, text everyone and let them know how you feel and even asking them to drop by and share some biscuits and coffee like them (Filipino-style in getting in a burial commemoration; usually takes 40 days). I'm just curious in our mylotter's thoughts about this; do you say condolence or empathize the owner of a dying dog?

It may sound weird, but yeah, I will say condolence and pay my respects to the owner. His/Her dog has become a part of the owner's life that he/she may consider it to be a part of his/her family. It's respecting the owner's preferences.

Yeah. me, too. But how will you say it to the owner/ would you text her or say it to her in person? Like how would you do it? Because here in where I'm at we do sit and talk awhile about it. Most of the time we do put comments on it online or dropped by in their Facebook walls to say sorry. But how would you say it if it happens to your friend?

I actually would give my condolences to the onwer of dog who is dying or has passed. After a while, your pet becomes a part of the family so when something happens and the animal is no longer alive it is heartbreaking. I cried for days when I had put my cat down that I have for 17 years. It tore my heart that I wouldn't have her anymore.

It could very well be a reaction supporting your sentiments for dying animal species. On the other hand it is also an expression of remorse to the owner of the pet which has been so dear to him.

We have had many German Shepherd dogs as a part of our family. We feel they were all entitled to a proper burial. We love our pets, and treat them with respect. Sharing loving thoughts and prayers for the loss of a pet is so very important.
