Wild Turkey Pie for dinner tonight

My husband hunts and we almost always have deer meat in our freezer. But this past weekend, my husband went turkey hunting and we now have fresh turkey meat. He didn't get a turkey, but his father got 2 and his brother got 1. Since his father doesn't eat the meat - well, his wife wont cook it - he gave his to us. I wanted to make something different than just grilled or baked turkey, so I looked up some recipes online. And the Wild Turkey Pie sounded delicious! AND! It WAS! Prep time was a bit longer than I liked - about 2 hours all together - but it was well worth it.
Do you look up recipes online? If so, what is one that really got your attention?

It is soooo ironic that you mention wild turkeys. last saturday something caught my eye outside the window. I thought it was my cat.
It was a wild turkey. I kknow they are making their way north into Canada, but it is the first time around here.
I posted a picture...but by the time I found my camera, all I got was not too good. Of course, you can see the screen on my window.

That's a nice sized turkey! Would have made a couple good meals :)
They don't bother your cat? I would think as big as they are, your cat would give it plenty of room!

I can't say I have ever had or desired to eat Wild Turkey pie, but good for you that you made it and liked it. I'm sure if was delicious. I see alot of wild turkey around here but it is illegal to hunt them I'm assuming. I just can't hunt and eat my own food for some reason. I think the fact that i don't even eat chicken pot pie might have something to do with it too. I do like having a baked turkey on Thanksgiving and even Easter perhaps if it happens.

My husband likes to hunt. And it helps keep our grocery bill down. I'll try anything, and am usually pretty happy with things.
