What Would You Do If You Found Termites Near Your House?

I was digging in the perimeter of our propoerty to plant shrubs. The area was near a big Maple tree. I never thought that I would see some termites. When I searched the internet about it. I found out that they are subterranean termites. Which are defined as social insects that feed on cellulose and lives in colonies in the soil.
The area where I found it was probably 6 meters from our house. I could not sleep that night after I found the termites. I know for a fact that they are very destructive. I do not know if I need to call an exterminator right away to have the house surroundings treated to prevent termites from getting near the structure (hopefully they are not there yet). Or just make sure there are no wood in the surroundings that are touching the ground.
Do you guys have any suggesstions or recommendations. Anything is appreciated.
Thanks

I was digging our backyard want to plat some flower when I found termites two months ago, I did not wait I told my husband to call exterminator. Trust me termites grow fast and we can miss it anytime, then the last thing we know or if they have eaten all the wood in our house. I don't want that to happen. I suggest to go to home Depot they can suggest you termite killer but if you prefer not doing it by yourself I think exterminator would do your favor. Good luck

I think you should call someone to treat the entire house. those things could be riuining our structure as well.

I'd call an exterminator and make sure they couldn't get inside the house.

Time to call my local exterminator to take care of some business. Or to complain about him not doing his job properly, as there is an exterminator that comes by a few times a year, due to the insurance, to make sure there is no infestations such as termites or any other things.
Granted, it would be rather frustrating to see those annoying pests rather coming forward. The exterminator seems like the best bet, as attempting to deal with these things ourselves might end in disaster. There is do it yourself and doom it yourself and this really flies right into the realm of doom it yourself for sure. So yeah, best to leave an infestation to the professionals.
