April 24, 2012 3:48am CST
I have a light scribe drive on my laptop which is meant to mean I can make a label direct on the top of a dvd/cd right? Well can someone help me as I have tried to follow the instructions from the programme but cannot figure out how to do this.

Have you installed both the software and drivers? http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadsection/windows/index.aspx?id=810 Without the LSS software installed it simply wont work. So basically if you haven't already 1: Install LSS 2: Install Label software of your choice. There is the one on their site then other free and paid software. Depending on how you want to do labels will obviously depend on which software would be best for your needs. 3: burn your disc 4: flip the disc over and print the label What happens when you tried to do it? What went wrong

Since my laptop came wit LSS already installed then shouldnt the drivers already be installed and the software? And when I try to print a label it just doesnt do anything. COuld this be as the discs using are normal dvds or cds?

Sorry for the extremely slow response been super busy. But yes in theory the software should be installed along with drivers. The drivers in most cases will be installed but the lightscribe software to make it work correctly may be missing. No doubt you have sorted it out by now though

I don't know whether it is just my setup but I only get Lightscribe 'labels' in monochrome. No a problem for me. I prefer to buy printable discs and then print in glorious colour in an inkjet printer.

That's because lightscribe drives are only capable of 'monochrome.'
