Can't get started without my coffee. Is that such a big deal?

Okay, I know that coffee is not good for you, but really is it that big of a deal? I have a really hard time starting my day without it. I usually have 2 cups of coffee in the morning and sometimes if I have a long evening ahead of me I will have a coffee on the go in the evening. Is it really that bad for me? I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Coffee is my one crutch. Do you think it's really that unhealthy to have 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day? Does it have any long term effects on my health? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think I am a coffee addict, and I drank up to 7 espressos daily : at this level I had stomachaches and I had to reduce my coffee consumption to 3/4, with no health problem, so 2 or 3 cups are probably safe.

actually studies have shown recently that moderate coffee drinking is absolutly good for you. I have read several different articles about this subject. the studies were done by the american heart association.

why is coffee not good for me? i've not heard anything about coffee been really bad for someone. yes for those who are allergic to it it gives them palpitations. but for those who are not, there is nothing really bad about coffee. i can't do without coffee in the morning. if i don't get coffee by noon, i'll have a migraine headache that will last the rest of the day. i guess it's this kind of dependency that makes coffee bad? the maximum is two cups of coffee a day as i also like other drinks that has caffeine. if i'm really tired but i NEED to stay awake i'll have myself a red bull. at lunch i'll have a coke so it works like coffee for me but goes better with food. i've read researches that says two cups of coffee is actually good because of the antioxidants contained in the coffee beans (or something like that). however, it's the sugar and cream in the coffee that's bad if consumed in great quantities.

Well some studies show that coffee is good and some say its bad. But I guess, I go for the good since I love coffee and its the first thing that I take in the morning. It is also my mid morning and afternoon snacks. But then I am guilty of drinking so much coffee and perhaps will ease up a little bit. Too much of everything is obviously not good.

I love coffee too! It helps me wake up in the morning, if I don't have my morning coffee I feel sleepy all day! Some mornings I really enjoy those 10 minutes when I drink my morning coffee quietly in my kitchen before going to work. It gives me the energy I need to start my day! I don't drink too many coffees during the day though, usually 2-3 max, and if I have a 3rd one, it will be very light or decaf. I've heard too that coffee isn't very healthy, it can cause build up of cellulite on the body (that's my main concern!) and some people say that it might increase the stress levels during the day. I am not sure about the long term effects!

I love coffee too. I usually drink about 2 to 3 cups a day. According to Mayo Clinic, 2 to 4 cups of coffee is okay for healthy adults. Anything more than that can cause insomnia, restlessness, nervousness, palpitations, or upset stomach. If you're starting to feel any or combination of these symptoms, then it's time to lessen your caffeine intake. Note also that caffeine doesn't only come from coffee. Tea, energy drinks, and some kinds of soda also contain caffeine.
