Thieves broke into the house ...

Vietnam
April 24, 2012 11:16pm CST
I've lost clothes many times when I dried them outside while I went to work. This time, the thief broke the door, to take away the valuable belongings inside! The thief took away television, watches, jewelries etc... I must spend much money to buy them again! Before going away, I asked my neighbor housekeeping help. However, they can not do more. I think I should move!

You should really consider moving. There are lots of thieves around that place and even the police can't do something about it.

That's right. Cops can't do anything and my landlord is too. So, I'll move when I can find a good room.

Sorry to hear that. You should call the cops if you haven't yet and let them investigate. They might still be able to know who the thieves are. You should move if you have the money to find another place to live and make sure the new place will be a safer one so this won't happen again.

You don't NEED to spend money to buy watches (who need watches??? one won't do?), jewelries etc.. that is a free choice. If you are not using it you don't need it or? And if you have so much of value no insurance for that? Or perhaps saving them elsewhere? As they say here: the more property the more you have to take care of. You might consider (next time)to make it thieves more difficult. (yesterday I received an email from the police to warn us there are a lot of robberies in my neighbourhood plus a long list how to prevent it in an easy way .. or should I say: not to invite them). It's terrible if people do break in to your house, to me most of all since it's private. I can understand the people who steal clothes outside if you dry them, at least I think they will need it. Just like they grab your bag with shoppings. If moving will help I don't know.. thieves are everywhere and it won't make you feel saver. Better ask yourself what will make you feel safe, how you can protect your property and what is really value to you.

I very like your response :) You're right that we shouldn't invite the thieves. We should practice many ways to protect ourselves. I did. But in this time, I have subjective.

Yes, that's a good idea. You should move out as soon as possible. Make sure you go to a neighborhood where people cares about your security as well. I'm currently living away from home because of work. I've never moved from where I'm staying now, because my neighbors are really nice and they care about me. Nobody ever tried to break into my apartment.

Sorry to hear about you being robbed. We got robbed also 6 years ago. We lost many of our stuff and they took my shoes and clothes too that I put on my daughter's room! We called the cop and did the investigation but they didn't catch the robbers. The police told me that it might be our neighbor coz some of the items that they took were sold by somebody up in the mountain, but they didn't have the evidence!

I think that I can't get back the things which were lost. So, I didn't call cops. Moreover, I din't lost too much. Unlucky if we were robbed. But we shouldn't worry too much. We can buy all after that, right? Then, we'll keep them safe more with many ways.

I did have few experiences too. Anyhow, we must do something to prevent repeating lose again. Below are my suggestions to prevent thieving again: 1. Install security system as CCTV and Alarm at our home. 2. Strengthen the locking system at all of the access to our home by having more padlocks. 3. Keep all of the valuable items as jewelries and cash at the safe box of your bank. 4. Keep few dogs at home. 5. Ask your neighbor to keep their eyes on your home when you are away. No matter where you are living, I am sure we can reduce your chances to be thieved again by having the above few preventive steps.

@ adhyz82, If we can not expect someone to be reliable or helpful, then we shall ignore this person. Anyhow, we must put in our effort and to consider all of the possibilities to protect our assets.

Sorry to hear you were robbed. Unfortunately, I don't think moving will help that much. Robbers don't care about the location. They just care about the loot. Here stuff is stolen from every part of town. High to low income districts. I have dryer robbers. I know I put matching socks in the dryer and when the clothes are done drying it never fails the socks no longer have a match. I have all these lonely socks waiting for a mate. Best Wishes!

dear, I think you should call the police. They can track down who it was and then if you want you can go to court or even sue that person because stealing is a serious crime! In the future, make sure all the windows and door's are locked before leaving the house and make sure all your valuble jewely is locked up in a safe with your money. If this continues however i would suggest moving to a different area.

Yes, that’s right you must move. Find a place that is very safe and a neighbor that can help you. A place that very accessible. Sometimes we cannot trust our neighbor especially if we did not know them very well. If you have an extra income put a device that can truck people who entered in your house that is not authorized.

I always get nervous when I go out leaving the door keys near my window for my children to get them when they come home in the evening. There are thieves everywhere and what would happen if any of them find those keys and break into my house. So now I have started to safe my things inside the the secret stone safe that I got from
