On the way back home from the city, my car burning.
The car has a lot of people. Fearing the car might explode, we are simultaneously alight. Do not have a house on the road and not a rescue team arrived, we had to use bottled water to put out the fire.
While we are trying to put out the fire, many people just stand around. They try to stand away from our fear of danger. I really do not understand what they are thinking. They should join us extinguish the fire. They only think about the safety of themselves, but are not interested in others!

I agree with the other response. People might not have helped because they weren't sure what to do. It seems that they are afraid that if they do the wrong thing they will get sued! I am disabled and need a lot of assistance. I have found that most people are very helpful, even younger people which always surprises me.

I hope that you're right. So, I can believe on other people, right? :)

I believe in most cases people will help you if they can. I have even had some disabled people offer to help me. They weren't as bad off as me, but still I wouldn't expect someone that has their own problems to help me.

I wouldn't think that they're indifferent. Perhaps they just need some instructions. You see, I myself wouldn't be 'helping' you in putting out the fire because I don't really know how it should be done. Cars have mechanical sides and I don't have any idea which could take water and which could not. Further, there are more incidents of accidents not prevented when more people 'participate'.
Perhaps if you told them to look for water, they would have done so. Maybe they thought that you 'got it' that's why they just waited for anyone to ask their assistance.
I think indifference happens when you'd start asking them for help and they'd just stand there looking at you.
One of the health emergency seminars I've been in specifically told us to keep off something that you are not familiar with. When a person has collapsed, dial 911 instead of helping him/her most especially if you have no training because his/her life might cut short because of your interference. That's why one should call a doctor or ask if there's a medical practitioner about instead of trying to see how to fix the person.
I guess it's like that in your scenario as well. It's good though that you were able to fix the car. Else all of you would have been stuck there.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Maybe you're right. I maybe isn't trained well for this status. So, they didn't know what they can do. But they even didn't ask me or other people what they can help. They only stand to look us!

I once witnessed a car on fire. I did my part in calling for help and then I booked it as far as I could. The car was parked in front of a cage of propane tanks, there was smoke pouring out of it and a 300 pound guy was passed out in the car. The fire and rescue people got there and handled it. They are trained for that sort of stuff and I am not. If the fire hits that gas tank, there will be an explosion. I don't think that these people didn't care about others. They cared more about their lives than they did your vehicle! How many people does it take to risk their lives in putting out a fire? You guys actually took a chance on your own lives in staying there. If you look at it from another angle then it would be also accurate to say that you cared more about your vehicle than you did the lives of others or even yourself. I know that's not how you really felt but it is true that they had every reason to be scared and run.

I suddenly find that people are becoming more and more indifferent to others especially in cities. They show no interest in outside world. Some of people are only good to you especially when they need you. In that situation I think people did not know what they are going to do. Maybe they are shock of what happened.
