How can you say that your truth is better than ours?

That's a line from a song by Mumford & Sons (they're not really his sons) called "I Gave You All". Like most of their lyrics it really resonates with me. What do you think Mumford and Sons meant by this and do you agree with the sentiment? By the way, I'm not putting any tags on this subject, so as not to influence anyone's immediate thoughts towards my own ideas, but do add whatever tags you want to XD

I know Mumford & Sons but I am not familiar with that song. My immediate thoughts about the line were towards religious views. Many religions believe in different versions of god and those followers of religions put down others beliefs because they are not in line with theirs. If it is to do with religion, then I agree with the statement and that is why I am not religious in any way. I am open to the views of many different religions but I choose not to follow any, I just take what I like from various different ones and apply them to my life. The line really could be applied to any relationship in life though too.

Hi Shard Aerliss: For me the meaning is clear, there are so different points of vies on the same fact, so many truths that you should not assume that what you think about a subject it's the only valid point of view. In fact, as we are open to listen the other's truths and points of views we could find how diverse the world is. ALVARO

Hi, I am not familiar with the song but I am going to stick and answer the question "How can you say that your truth is better than our?" which is another way of saying "mine is more accurate compare to your". How to do it? by providing a more precise and accurate information and evidence is the key.

In fact I would have to say that the meaning is quite the opposite of "mine is more accurate compare to your". If that was what it means, then the songwriter is doing exactly what he is complaining about. Lash

I did not hear the songs yet but what the line goes, it’s more on our religious belief. There is not your truth, nor my truth, only the truth, the only truth, His name is Jesus. Outside of Him there is no truth. Only the father of lies, blinding the unbelieving world.
