I have just attended my younger sister's wedding at my hometown. One day before, we must prepare a small party for all relatives. This is the time we gather and meeting. The main wedding party will be organized on noon after that. One week after that, one more wedding party will be organized at family of my sister's husband. My parents and some close relatives will travel here to give the bride to her husband's family. Besides, there are many other rituals and procedures in a wedding. How a wedding in your local?

We usually eat, sing and dance. A wedding party takes about 3-4 hours.

In our local wedding goes continuously for three days. In first day all relatives come to wedding home and meet with each others. And in night we all dance together. On second day we all go to girl's home for wedding ceremony. On the last day we travel back to wedding home and take together the bride. And on evening sadness spread all over because all went their own place. We all know that we will meet in only case of next big function.

If groom's family is far from bride's, it take much more time. The wedding celebration is usually organize on Saturday or Sunday. Right?

I guess weddings here isn't as extravagant as it is there. Here, it is just a one-day event, not counting the honeymoon of the couple. I guess it really depends on the bride and groom, but the wedding rituals and ceremonies just last for one day. There's the wedding itself, usually in a church. But some couples, the more extravagant ones, opt to have it in a beach or in a garden setting. After the mass which celebrates the wedding, reception follows where everyone dine and share the food prepared by the wedding party. I guess the one thing that stands out in weddings here, would have to be the number of entourage. There's flower girls, ring bearer, bridesmaids, grooms men, maid of honor, best man. Of course, those are common. But here, we have principal sponsors, secondary sponsors, junior bridesmaid, junior grooms men, bible bearer, coin bearer... there's really quite a lot.

Yes. There are many things to do before the wedding. I and my husband must schedule for all while we must go to company everyday. My wedding was organized on Sunday. So, I was off on Saturday to prepare.

..wow.. that's very extravagant type of wedding.. in our place, we have three to five days wedding celebration.. of course, just like yours, there is also a welcome party for the relatives on the arrival, then during the wedding and then departure party for the relatives.. some also give another party in the groom's house if the two parties involved came from different places.. there are also dancing ceremonies..

My brother’s wedding will be two months from now. Just last month, our parents went to talk to my brother’s fiancée’s parents and agreed on the date and place of the ceremony. After the agreement, I volunteered to be the coordinator of the wedding since the Groom will shoulder mostly of the expenses, and I offered it free. Each member of our family pledged for a contribution for the wedding.

It's the same here. I think that the time when we're preparing for the wedding is the happiest time :)
