summer is wrong time to be pregnant

Philippines

I'm on my 35th week and lately, I noticed I've been sweating a lot. Even when I sleep, and the AC at full power, I still feel warm and I'm sweating. When its daytime, I can't stand the heat too long, and I drink a lot of water to quench my thirst and relieve me of the heat. I just think its wrong timing to reach this pregnancy stage during summer. And, ill take note of that in case we plan to have another baby in the near future.

Whew! I am here with my electric fan set to maximum in front of me and my computer thinking that if I am to shed off more clothes then I would be left with nothing. I was thinking that it's really overly hot now and I don't even want to listen to music because it would add to the heat! Now you're telling me that you're pregnant?! Whoah! I would go nuts if I were pregnant now. Twice the body heat! Whew! It would really be uncomfortable and I would be demanding my partner to swallow the AC bills just to help me get comfortable. Whew! Good luck with that! Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Electricity bills are really soaring high for the last 2 months. The AC is on almost 24hours. I can't stand the heat in the living room, even with a high-power electric fan. I have to stay in the room where the AC is, and put it on high cool.

I didn't plan my pregnancy but for both I have to go throw the summer. With my daughter around this time I found out I was pregnant with her so it was really bad because it was extremely hot that summer. I couldn't leave the house or I would throw up. I couldn't walk the dog that was how bad it was till about August. Now with this baby its not to bad because it hasn't been as hot as it was the last two summers yet. So I don't even need the ac I need the heater right now at almost 20 weeks. Its sad.

i do experienced that too. i as on my 30th week at this time 2 years ago and summer heat really stressed me a lot. i always feel hot and easily got exhausted. i do hope we can plan when we can get pregnant because God only knows when is the right time. just keep your self hydrated by taking in plenty of water. is it your first baby? congratulations in advance and may you have a safe delivery!

It's my second pregnancy. I actually can't remember myself having the same issues with the heat on my first pregnancy, 4 years ago. Well, there is actually a way that we can plan when we can get pregnant, although, not everyone is lucky. We can always try. I just wasn't expecting to be affected much this summer.

I'm scared of getting pregnant..! It just seems so weird to me, not having any control over your body...I'm a control freak. Best of luck and I wish you have a healthy baby boy or girl.

no its not about my figure, its the nausea and the feeling that you cant go out without worrying that something might happen..the loss of freedom or rather the perception that you are losing your freedom. im not mature enough to take that responsibility on me...im too selfish as a person..i cant even keep up friendships or relationships. so not sure if i would get a chance to become a mother in my life.

It's good that you acknowledge that within you. It really is not easy to become a mother, right from the very first day of conception. So, be careful and try not to get pregnant until you're full ready for the demanding role of motherhood.

Oh, don't be. I, too, had the same apprehension about getting pregnant on my first. I had other stuff i wanted to accomplish before a big responsibility like this comes to me. But, it happened, and, although, it wasn't easy and I still freak out at times, I'm still happy and proud that I was able to get it through. "Control of your body" - do you mean, your figure?

I think it has something to do with hormones. Not to mention you always pee and go to the bathroom more times than you are not yet pregnant. And also I think it's because of the fat. Most of pregnant women thought that they must eat more because of the baby when the truth is, they don't have to eat too much. Try to enjoy your pregnancy days, being sleepy is also normal because you will have to have enough energy during your labor. Drinking water is good to makes you hydrated at all times.

I do drink lots of water and juices. And, I take frequent visits to the bathroom. I don't easily sweat, but yeah, I think apart from the summer heat, its the fats that build up because I did gain much on this pregnancy.

I understand how hard it would be to you this time. You may laugh but I share some practices here in our place. It is that the husband and wife would live separately during a month. When it is calculated that if she get pregnant during that month, it would around the summer which gives discomfort to her and to the baby. I felt our ancestors are intelligent.

You mean giving birth during the summer season, is seen as a punishment for couples? That's odd.

You get me wrong here. It is not punishment. They just made that month as holy month. So the couples would follow some rituals. it is around august.

Congratulation! You will be a mother very soon! Obviously during the pregnancy, it is not easy. Especially the last month, the baby is getting bigger and your body temperature will be higher than others. So you have to find the way to keep cool and relax yourself. We all learn things from our experience. You can take note not to have the second child born in summer. But you only can try. All the best!

My sister had her second daughter born in mid July. She felt way too hot in June and July. She preferred the timing of her other pregnancies. Her first son was born in January, her second son was born in May and her first daughter born in November. Yes, it is not nice to have a hot summer when you are 30 to 40 weeks pregnant. I had my first baby boy born in April but early April that year turned out very hot. I could hardly fit into any of my summer clothing having such a big bump. My second baby boy was born in May and that was a normal temperate for that time of the year. My daughter was born in late June and the weather was getting quite warm that year. August is a terrible month to be heavily pregnant in my home country.

Congratulations! I am sorry to hear that you are suffering like this. Giving birth to a baby is a wonderful miracle and once your tiny miracle is born hopefully all this suffering will seem to be worth it.

It is all worth it. From the very start of my pregnancy, I gave up my career to ensure the safety of my baby. All these sacrifices will pay off, for sure.

I know it's hard on you, but I don't think it's "wrong". We can't always time our pregnancies the way we want it to go . . . I was just so happy to get pregnant with my second one as it took a while - the timing didn't matter!! But I know what you're saying. The first one I got pregnant just before summer . . . I was literally nauseous from the beginning and it never left me til 7 months! It was hard being hot AND nauseous. The second one I got pregnant a little earlier in the spring season - but I was taking my first one out a lot during summer - so it was hard getting a tummy and being out there in the heat!! Ah, but you are nearly there . . . hang on and try to focus on what is to come soon!! Congratulations!

It is very hot in summer then you should be careful. Don't work hard, and if it is too hot, better you should stay in a room with air con, don't go out at noon. Take care!!!

I agree. However most people I know are born on april, which indicates the tendency of people to....get preagnant on august's vacation. I think this actually should be a perfect time of the year, cause it probably takes some time to begin having the preagnancy symptoms, which means you will have a 9 month pregnancy without practically suffering from the pregnancy-summer combination.
