Odesk is a website where contractors (businesses) post jobs and freelancers can apply for them. They have different categories from Administrative Assistants to Data Entry to Freelance Writing and much more. You bid, they will contact you for interview if interested or decline your application. You are paid weekly. It's a good site with a lot going on.

I want to make quick money as of now. I can work as hard as possible. That's not a problem. If I join ODesk now, how long will it take for me to reach a stable income?

@Jevendiran, it depends on your abilities to do the jobs successfully. There are tests given on the sites. Select the tests according to your interest and acquire pass mark. This will increase the possibilities of availability of freelance jobs. Do the jobs as per the job providers' requirement and earn money.ODesk is a task site. microworkers,MTurk, freelancer.com etc are some examples for task sites.

I agree, take all the tests that interest you or in your field. That will help attract the clients when you apply for the jobs that interest you.
@josechukkiri, I haven't looked into microworkers. Going to check it out and thank you for listing it!

Basically, Odesk is a freelancing site wherein it has a wide range of independent contractors and a community of outsourcing firms which hired online freelancers to do their set job postings and projects via contract. The pay is usually set via Paypal and other online money to bank process. The work usually depends on which workloads you want to apply with and which set skills and expertise you can work with and be hired by an employer. I’ve been in Odesk and so far, it’s a legit and great way to earn online income via freelancing jobs.
