What makes a good actor and which actors are over rated? Is Clooney a good actor? Not for this writer. He doesn't move me. He could never have played Gary Oldman's part as Smiley in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. He doesn't have the range. As for the actresses, what do you think of Meryl Streep? She gets ten stars from me.

I think that Clooney is like Tom Cruise, a hook for the female audiences, (and some male audiences too,), but highly overrated, strictly on the acting department, althought, I like Clooney´s performance is "Syriana", and other movies, but it leaves a lot to be desire, outside of his "cassanova" type of characters.
Also, I think that Meryl Streep would be on the top five of most lists of the best actresses of all time, yet, I like Jodie Foster better.

Meryl Streep is my girl and when I was younger I was told many times that I looked like her. And what an actress. In French Lieutenant's Woman already she charmed us with that innocent demeanor and that wild red hair. And to play the Iron Lady, wow! I rewound at least five or seven times the scene where her daughter talked to her and Streep listened patiently, and said, "I'm not knackered yet." The nuances in that short scene, and the many golden moments in the film made me watch it several times. I have a question though. Towards the end of the film it was alluded that she was becoming forgetful, and in the very last moments we saw her walking towards the front door with her hand trembling slightly. Tell me, do you know whether she contracted Parkinson's? I saw myself in that film. And I loved what the film told us also about getting older and the relationships around us. As for Clooney and Cruise, they have no sizzle on the screen. Bring out the Black Knight for a heightened experience, or Michael Corleone from The Godfather.

I must say, that I was really hesitating about watching this film, since Mrs Tatcher is not a character that moves me, but, you wake my curiosity, and I watched it, it is a moving film indeed, about an aging woman, Meryl Streep looks great in this film. About your question, I don´t know, I browsed the web, and couldn´t find anything about either Mrs Tatcher nor Meryl Streep having Parkinson, and, the movie doesn´t states clearly if that´s the illness that affected her. While browsing looking for the movie and information, I found a movie, that interested me, "Doubt", with Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, two magnificent actors, in my opinion, Have you seen this movie, I am about to watch it, this evening. As a closing comment, if you allow me, you are still a very good looking woman, and, yes, I can see a resemblance to Meryl Streep.

Why thanks Albto, what a nice thing to say. I saw that movie Doubt but forget now what it was about. Hoffman is a great actor. You see, Clooney will just be delivering lines if he tries for Hoffman in say, Truman Capote. Hoffman was excellent. His mannerisms, his air, his delivery. I love good movies, and just ten minutes ago agreed to sell my movie camera which I made three doccies on. It is sad that I must say good bye to it, but my son in law has the same camera so I can always borrow it. I feel like a little Corleone so will put this on and watch. I have three series I can watch, but then I want to watch all the episodes in one day. Thanks again. If you have more movies to discuss we can talk about it.
