last night my son woke up crying (he is 8years old).He dreamed that rolling rocks are coming towards him,I can see in his eyes how afraid he was and seem like hallucinating. He has a cough. It was the second time he acted that way.The other was when we where in the hospital when he was sick. He thought the male nurse was a monster. He is big and chubby and he was screaming not to let him get near him. When I was young at his age, I dreamed of balloons multiplying and it's all coming on me til I suffocate, I dreamed of rocks rolling on me as well. I also dreamed of falling into a deep well It's like a very very bad dream, can someone explain it to me, does it have connection when somebody is sick?

Ever heard the term, 'fever dream'? In short, yes there is a connection between vivid dreams or nightmares and sickness. Possibly because when someone is sick their body requires more rest and the brain is more likely to enter into the deeper stages of REM sleep which has a definite connection with nightmares/vivid dreams. Growing kids also tend to have more nightmares than grown adults. I don't believe dreams mean anything, but the best way to prevent nightmares is to cut down on the nightmare fuel (horror movies/stories), and going to bed earlier and getting up earlier to keep from entering into the deep stages of REM sleep.

Thats awful I feel so bad for your son. I dont know how to explaine it but, i have had the dreams where i felt like i was falling. the only advice i can think to give you is not to give up on him keep trying to comfort him and find anwsers. Doctors arent always what they should be i have learned this the hard way as well.
