Tanning Mom

I know tanning has been a fascination of many Caucasians cos they like the caramel or bronze skin that latinos and maybe some South East Asians naturally have. There is nothing wrong with tanning but yeah there are so many people who takes it to the extreme. The woman in the YouTube news clip below is very controversial now. she is very hated because she is so obsessed with tanning that she makes her 5 year old daughter use a tanning bed. Tanning beds are like oven that bakes humans to make their skin darker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFo7XcMMZSk

Oh, it is so weird. She likes to be tan but she doesn't think carefully for her kid and bring a kid to tanning booth also. it is dangerous for kids. Honestly, she doesn't look nicer after being too tan. People should care about their health also when wanna being tan because it is easy to get cancer also.

I think there ius a safer way of getting a tan and that is spray tan, but I guess she wanted a sun kissed tan. isnt it weird that in southeast Asia, people wanted fair skin while in the US people wanted tan.

Its a social status standard I think, thats why she is obsessed with it, If you are from a cold region and have a tan it means you have money to go to vacations on the beach.

It seems to be cruel to do tanning they are just sitting in the oven equalled equipment. Instead they could go nearer to the equator region to get direct sun for tanning. Ironically in our country, the habit of becoming fairer is present. The industry preparing fairness cream are increasing day by day.

I think in USA, UK and some european countries they were obssesed with tanning becaus they think it makes them glow, Plus the rise of Latino stars,Mullato stars kinda make it more popular. Then some southeast asians are starting to penetrate Hollywood, so we can expect Caucasians to have more tanning obsession. Also if you live in a cold region, having a tan, is a sign of social superiority cos it means you can afford to go in the beach. in southeast Asia, Bleaching became an obsession because 80% of actors in South East Asian Television are Eurasians(half asian, half white) who have fair skin. Then there is the rise of East Asian dramas, we know the Japanese, Chinese and Koreans have fair skin, so that makes some southeast Asians, try to have fair skin.

If parents will make their kids to learn to love their appearance, they wont have insecurities that will make them try to change their selves.

I just watched the video. I'd heard of this, but hadn't watched any news reports or read any articles on it until now. This is just crazy and look at the woman's skin. I am not saying that she did take her daughter in with her, she may or she may not have. What is clear is that she needs help, serious help, and her children need to know that this tanning craze is just that a craze, it's not healthy. She looks old, I can't even decipher her age.

she looks like she is 60 but I think she maybe on her 30's. I have nothing against light skinned people trying to have a tan or darkskinned people bleaching their skin to look fairer. But for sure people should not take it to the extreme. she doesnt look healthy at all. she makes Snooki looks like Snow White.

Yes she definitely looks like she could be a grandmother. I think that people shouldn't use tanning beds at all, that they should use tanning oils and lay out in the sun for their tan, not any other way. As for skin bleaching, sure that's fine as well but don't try to change your race completley.

Actually, using tanning oils and tanning in the sun is pretty bad for your skin also. They have proven that just regular laying in the sun is bad for you. I used to be a sun worshipper and grew up on the beach. I got tans so dark that I still had tan lines come spring the following year. I gave it up right about when I started hearing how bad it was for you and that was before the tanning booths got real popular. I did get a gift once for 100 mins of tanning. I went a couple of times and got pretty dark as I tan easily. I actually gave the minutes away. This woman is definitly overdoing it and I so understand how that can happen. I am blonde and I tan easily. Without even trying, I get dark. When I put an effort into it , I could turn black in a week...in natural sun. Glad I stopped when I was younger ...that woman looks really old. Does anyone know how old she is?

I heard about that on the news too. To be diplomatic I think that is some ill parental behavior IF she is guilty because she said that the kid was in the tanning room not the tanning bed. I don't agree with tanning beds but it's not like they are ovens. That's a little bit extreme. They use the same principle as the Sun only it isolates just the part that makes the skin darker. I don't think it's healthy tho.

I think tannign under the sun is healthy in moderation because son does produce Vitamin D to make our bones stronger. But exposure to the sun should be only few minutes to 1 hour.

I just watched the video. Not good. Whether or not this woman actually took her child into the tanning bed remains to be seen. She is accused of it and is innocent until proven guilty right? To me that's not a huge news story. Why plaster this woman's ridiculously tanned face all over the news when there is a chance that she is still innocent? It could very well be that the child got burned from the sun. I noticed that the little girl had red hair. Red-haired people are very well-known for getting sunburned. Perhaps the woman's only "crime" was not ensuring that her child was protected from the sun...maybe no sunscreen on or not enough of it? All kinds of people, and especially children who spend a lot of time outside playing get sunburned. The school official who reported it was only doing her job. It is required for them to report even suspected incidents like that this one. As for the woman and her addiction to tanning, it is her problem. She looks horrible and is putting herself at a great risk for skin cancer but people do things like that to themselves every day. Is it any different from people who smoke, who continue to smoke even though they know the health risks involved? And people who smoke by the way, also look horrible...it makes their skin grey-looking and they have tons more wrinkles and age faster than people who don't smoke. Also, people who smoke in their homes, cars etc are exposing their children to health hazards with the second-hand smoke.

There is a huge possibility that she is innocent but people dont trust her because of her physical appearance since her tan is almost exaggerated, her blond hair is like the final trace of her being caucasian. Her condition I think is called "tanorexia" if she looks her self in the mirror she felt very pale, so she will try to tan to boost her self confidence, since Tan is a beauty standard in the US.

People indeed need to be happy wit their skin color, Its their genetics and instead of trying to change them selves, they should just try to take advantage of what they have. I see many pale skinned people who will never resort to tanning cos they know how to work it. i had seen dark skinned people who never resorted to bleaching cos they know how to love their selves.

Whether or not tanned skin is considered a beauty standard is a matter of choice. I'm in Canada, very close to the US in many respects, and am very fair skinned. I don't consider tanned skin a thing of beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People should just let their natural beauty shine through and stop trying to alter their bodies and natural assets to conform to what others believe to be beautiful. It's not only the colour of their skin that people try to change. People dye their hair, wear a ton of make-up, curl their is if straight, straighten their hair if curly...the list goes on and on. I believe in taking care of oneself and looking your best but there is a line to be drawn, especially when it seriously affects your health.

I don't think the Mom took her daughter into the tanning area with her. She was probably just sunburned as the mom has said. However, the mom does have a problem with over-tanning.

I think people judge her and became suspiscious about her because they judged her for her appearance, I think her case is under investigation.

That woman doesn't look normal becasue she has tanned so much! She looks gross! Taking your 5 year old daughter alone to tan is bizarre and stupid! That woman is crazy! Really crazy! Two months ago my boss went to tan so he would not look to white when him and his family when on vacation in Florida. In one tanning bed section he got burnt! He said the tanning bed had brand news lights in it! I doubt that story! He was in there to long! He just would not admit it! Tanning beds are no good and the way this mom looks proves it! I think she wants to become "black"!

All true but the point is ...I doubt she actually brought her child into that tanning bed and so the real issue here is that Fox News has to run with this story which I'm sure upsets the family and is causing al kinds of turmoil for this mother who is now having to defend herself not only to the school but to the world. I am willing to bet thata all this media crap is hurting the child faaar more than a tanning session wuld have and odds are it didn't even happen.

this woman looks too old for her age, I think she is still young cos she wont be able to have a child if she wasnt menopaused yet. I am still not sure of her innocence but yeah it could be a misunderstanding.

Yeah, I've seen this news on TV. Her kind of tan does not look normal. I think it is overdone. And why is she doing this? Is she perhaps making a statement? Is she trying to disown her own race perhaps?

In the US, if you are a tan Caucasian, its like a sign of total status, it means you can afford tanning treatments or afford going to the beach. I think it doesnt have nothing to do with race. Though Popularity of Latino Stars like J.Lo and Jessica Alba, also makes some white people want to tan.

That is just not a responsible thing a parent should do. if she wants to get tanned then she alone should get it and she shouldn't include her daughter with her addiction. isn't there some other way to get tanned- there is a spray tanning right?..where you just stand naked while they spray you some paint.

I actually don't think that she took her daughter in to the tanning booth. I've never known a tanning booth to allow it.I don't agree with her tanning. I think she is hurting herself but this is freaking fox news...they are sensationalizing this big time.

Addiction is quite hard to let go of it since you feel like you can't live without it. I hop she gets help too, before her health is damaged. Tanning isn't really that safe for the skin, it's still equivalent to being under the sun..

Jesus Christ, a 5-year old SHOULD NOT tan in a tanning bed! It's not even healthy for adults... it's gonna ruin poor thing's skin too much! Not to talk about that excessice tanning and almost orange skin is not flattering on anyone, especially not white people...

If people will just embrace their skin color, Theya re beautiful the way they are. I had seen black women who are very beautiful with their chocolate like skin. I have seen south east Asians who looks beautiful with their natural tan, I had seen caucasian who looks beautiful on their fair skin, I had seen Latinos who looks great with their brown skin and east asians who looks good on their yellow skin. But people are not happy on what they have, they want something they dont have, hence fair skinned people wanted dark skin and dark skinned people wants fair skin.
