Wayne Rooney has won the award for best goal of the 20 premier leagues seasons with his over head kick against Man City. He narrowly beat Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry to it. Is this really the best goal though? I get it and it's spectacular and all... and I couldn't do it... but look closely and he shins it. Lucky?

I think there were three things going for that goal. First of all it was spectacular to watch. Second, it was in a Manchester derby and it was a goal that put Man City away last season. Finally, the timing of the goal in the match was brilliant just when the noisy neighbors were cranking up the volume. :) Wonder what will happen, once they put Cisse's second goal against Chelsea in that list. Cheers! Ram

That is a fair point.

Yes, the more you watch it the more you enjoy it. Especially the way the ball swerves when Cech flaps at it. :) Cheers! Ram

Just watched it again and it's a fantastic strike (Cisse that is). A worthy contender.

Thou spectacular, I do not agree that this is the best goal of the 20 premier league seasons. Henry's volley against Man Utd, Beckham's half way lob against Wimbledon, these are two goals which I think is better than Rooney's.

Totally agree. Or what about Paolo DiCanio's volley? Technically better in my opinion.
