Mumbai Indians- A nervous team!!!

I am a Mumbai Indian supporter from the first IPL season itself. But i am very sad to say that MI is a very nervous team in my views. They seems to be powerful team in the paper but that turns true in the field only rare occasions. They seems to have o confidence with there talent itself. they are regularly changing the players and never gets a good permanent eleven. But most of the other teams have a permanent eleven players and the confidence of the team goes up after each match. But for Mumbai Indians they fear on there strength itself and never showed any confidence on there strength. Even in last match they played with 7 front line bowlers- malinga, munaf, harbajan, ojha, franklin, peterson, perera. And they never used peterson on that match and given only one over to perera. Rohit sharma is also good with ball and he proved that when playing for DC in first 3 IPL seasons. I wonder why they are playing with these much of bowlers? They loose there wickts in quick time and end in a low scores after getting good start. Now they are too much dependent on sharma and raydu. Sachin and franklin are giving good start for them but there scoring rate in first 6 overs is also not so good as compared to other teams. Any one of them should goes on attack against the bowlers. Peterson was good with bat in his first match but after that he was a failure and did nothing with ball. MI never played ojha for last few matches and he was one of the top wicket takers in all IPL matches. I think they should go on playing ojha with all other matches and replace peterson with any front line batsmen like levi, jacobs, blizzard or dwane smith. Levi was failure after first match in this IPL and he was poor against spinners. so it will be better to go with other names. I think pollard is injured. If he is fit then he should be replaced with perera as pollard is more handy with bowling( His batting form is not so good in this IPL )

i see dwayne smith coming into the team next match.you are right though.htye should just stick with malinga, bhajji, ojha, munaf as the 4 front line bowlers with 2 allrounders as the 5th bowler. i stil believe mumbai should stick with levi.just because he got bowled from 2 beauties from dale steyn which can get a player scoring 100 + runs, doesnt mean his is good enough. he is capable, young and will be a great addition to the team in the future. it too late in the tournament to change order, just stick with one opening pair for the remaining 6 matches and hope it works.

you are right. levi got out two times on a unplayable bowls of styne. but in other matches he got out in first or second over of spin bowlers and i think he is too weak against spin. The current opening pair is doing a good job. in all 3 matches where sachin and franklin opened, they scored a 50 runs partnership. But there strike rate was on the lower side. I said they should take advantage of power play and find to score more runs (around 50 runs) in first 6 overs.

I am Mumbaikar and naturally support them. However i am disappointed with their overall performance in this season of IPL. There is no consistency in any of the team member`s perfomance and there seems to be a lack of confidence in everyone. If they have won then it is a hairbreadths victory and after giving numerous heart attacks to their supporters. They don`t have a settled opening pair which is giving them lots of problems.Sachin`s approach is more like that in an ODI and he cannot score fast though he does score runs. Dwayne Smith, the latest entrant will surely play in the next match on Sunday since Pollard is still not fit.Once he is fit i feel that both the Windies players should play in the eleven along with Franklin and Malinga.Ojha is a must and should play in every match henceforth.Unfortunately the talented Rohit Sharma is also inconsistent, otherwise he is a matchwinner once he settles down. They are now in 3rd position and hope they remain there till the semis.

I agree with your assessment. I think they have a fantastic team and the individuals in the team are all great performers. But as a team they have always come across as a nervous team. Not sure what it is because a Bhajji or Sachin or a Pollard as an individual is not a nervous individual. I think they have chances to make the playoffs this season, but they will not be able to win the title. Cheers! Ram

Hi Rock, I don't support Mumbai Indians much because they always depend on Malinga and Pollard .I hate them to watch when they lose the match in the absence of Pollard and Malinga. They seemed to be strong but they don't perform well.I agree with you, that often change their batting eleven and keep their confidence down for every match.Mumbai doesn't know to manage their overseas bowlers.Harbhajan as a captain doesn't know to manage his bowlers. The pitch was assisting spin,so why did he give 2 overs to Franklin instead of Peterson. It created a buzz in my mind.Hope your favorite team makes it to the playoffs of this edition and win the trophy.
