Why the Mumbai Indians did not try Dinesh Karthik as an opener?

hi friends.mumbai indians have too many opener but dont know whom to open with. would have loved to see gibbs open with sachin but he got injured.the most successful opening pair has been sachin-franklin with 3 fifty runs partnership in 3 matches but the 2 steady players openeing the innings, mumbai indians go on to the self-destructing mode. so i thought who else is left and probably slapped my face a dozen times for not even thinking of him. Dinesh Karthik. this guy opened in test matches with ok results. he opened in ODI's too heck he was even there when sachin got to his 200*. so why mumbai indians didn't him a chance at the top since their middle order is overload with rohit, rayudu, polard, franklin etc. would be too bad if the batting line up looks like sachin, karthik, rohit, rayudu, levi, pollard, franklin, bhajji, munaf, ojha, malinga i mean for levi to come down the order and ahve free license to go on an all out attack where no swing or spin to disturb him is not such a bad ploy. what do you think

Don't worry, the way Mumbai is constantly experimenting, he will get his chance before the end of the IPL. BTW, their most successful pairing thus far has been Sachin and Franklin. The have opened three times and each time they have had a 50 run partnership. Cheers! Ram

the only problem with that partnership is that the only 2 sensible guys opens at the start and middle order doesnt have anyone to guide the through. besides 50 + score before 8 overs is ok.

To open with sachin and karthik is not a bad idea. But i think now they have got a good opening coordination of franklin and sachin. so it will be better to continue with that. I dont think levi should fit in middle order. I saw he got out against spin bowlers in first or second overs. he really struggles against spinners. so when he comes in middle overs he might get spinners from both end and that move dont work. I think it is better to go with smith, jacobs or blizzard. Now MI are sending raydu in the lower middle overs. I think he should be promoted and send him after rohit.

Hi Star, Mumbai Indian still finding it difficult to manage their overseas players.I think Sachin and Rayadu are the better openers when compared to the other pairs.Dinesh can't be promoted as an opener because he is struggling with his form.Franklin should be batting in the lower order because he is a good hitter of the ball. When Mumbai open with him, they will find it difficult to score runs towards the end of their innings.Levi can come at no.3 and Rohit at no.4.Franklin,Pollard,Karthick and Bhajji must bat at their respective positions according to the situation. They are not able to follow it so far in this tournament. If they keep their batting order right, then they can dominate the others.

I think the order is not bad. I think Mumbai Indians should make this line up. I think this is good effective. Sachin and Karthik for the opening is a great idea. Both of them have the ability to do cuts and shorts along the ground. There were many matches played by Karthik to prove his talents. According to my opinion he is a good player to play the cuts. So my question is why can't they put him in the front for opening. I think Rayidu should be placed after the opening batsmen becuase he has proved that he has the capability to do keep the current run rate. So I think he should be forced after the opening batsmen. Then comes Rohit, levi ,pollard franklin, bhajji, munaf, ojha, malinga. I think this will be very effective.
