Indian cricket team selectors selected the squad of team India A to tour west indies. It was a much expected tour as it gives opportunity to find young talents to Indian team. Especially in Indian team, we have to find a replacement for Dravid. The last year has been a nightmarish one for Indian cricket with eight consecutive humiliating test loses and this was the selectors’ opportunity to present their vision for the future. With the fact that Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman are in the evening of their international careers, this was the chance to see which domestic batsmen have the heart and technique to succeed in alien conditions. India’s lack of bowling options have also been bitterly exposed over the past year and a series of West Indies could have helped to find out talent for the immediate future. But i was really surprised with the 14 member squad selected for the tour!!! R.P.Singh got a place in the squad. that surprised me a lot. He is the same man who made his debut for India in 2005. That’s a whole seven years ago! He got lot of chances after that but proved to be a failure. Is RP Singh really the future of Indian cricket? Other surprise is the inclusion of rohit sharma. He had played lots of Indian cricket is back to the A team. What is selectors looking for by inserting rohit in to A team? Domestic performers like Parwinder Awana and Ankit Bawne have been ignored. They performed well in the ranjhi trophy. Players who played well in IPL and ranjhi like raydu, valthatti, jakathi, lakshmirathan shukla are ignored. I wonder where selectors are looking to find the future talent or some thing else through this tour?

RP Singh making it to the 14 member squad is not really a big surprise. Because he has been in the ODI's before. Rayudu, in my opinion should have been included the squad. He has been playing alot of good cricket in the Ipl.

RP Sigh had got lot of chances to prove his talent even in international level. But he failed badly every time. Even he was in the India's tour to England and he was performing like a school cricketer. So i dont find any point in giving more chances to him.

Our selectors are generally not known for their long term thinking. So I am not really surprised by that. But Rohit Sharma going on the tour is fine by me. I think he can be a good player in the longer version of the game and he should play a bit around the world and get used to it and win back his spot back in the team. Cheers! Ram

I agree with your view on rohit sharma. He can get experience of playing in the west indies pitches during this tour. He is a great cricket player with lot of classic shots in his armory.

It's BCCI, so it's not a big surprise to select a team like this. Anyway lets those players go to West Indies and get some experience with foreign pitches so that they can know how good the fast bowling pitches are ...
